I'm converting some of my DAZ stuff.

Here is Lena, a custom character i created inside DAZ and now transformed to CC3.
It took me some time and patience. A lot of small steps were involved.
I also fixed some issues with model textures.
Well, i can really say that Reallusion software is helping me to understand how that stuff works Smile

Here are 2 close-up renders. Render times were 6-8 minutes. I think that's because i used 2048k textures and didn't optimize anything.

Currently i'm working on converting a complete scene from DAZ to iClone via 3DXChange.
I will also convert another character then.
Let's see how it goes Smile
Well, i'm still at the iClone trial. Not fully convinced yet, but i'm working on it Wink

This looks very nice. I too, build my custom avatars in Daz via FaceGen Pro. I sure would like to read or see the process.

Thanks,
Craig

Thanks guys.

Yes, i am using FaceGen to convert photos to DAZ characters.
FaceGen is really powerful in that manner. I'm not aware of a better method by now.
It also has the ability to let your character look different, for example a bit 'toon' (one of many possibilities).
I also edit the generated textures in GIMP. For example, i changed her eye brows and make-up.
She is a fantasy person, based on real photos.

Here are a some new renders of my project.
This is based on a modern loft that i bought from the DAZ store.
Of course i also customized it a bit.
I have converted it into a single FBX but i will add props as needed.
This was a bit easier for the start Wink
This is the standard renderer using 4k resolution.

The light comes from the IBL atmosphere. You can see the image through the transparent windows. But it lights the complete scene.

And this is rendered in iray. I've replaced the lamp texture with an iray MDL, and added a point-light to it. But somehow it seems the light didn't render.

Well, i'm a novice but i'm learning more and more each time i use the software.
But one thing i'm afraid of is, if the render times at 1080p were about 10 minutes for this image, how long will it take to render animations in iray with iClone Sad
Okay, i would be ok with 720p also...

PS: i normally don't want to do any post-processing of the images. If the lighting is perfect, no editing should be needed.
I am not very good at photo editing, so my goal would be to get everything perfectly right from the render.
However, i did some basic auto white-balancing in GIMP with the last image. To me, it looks a lot better. I need another IBL...

Are you using Facegen Artist or FaceGen Modeller?

You can do a basic post-processing in Iray with tone-mapping. Since it is post, it does not interrupt/restart the render (that is in preview mode).
So by the time render is finished, your post would be ready as well. There are plenty of presets and basic manual controls which could also be saved.

Artist (only want to create G2 characters for now). Modeller would be nice to have for many reasons!
But it seams RL has also something interesting. At least with CrazyTalk one can already create characters from their own photos.
Hopefully this feature will come to CC as well.
