Time for a new Timex?

Nope. removed and re installed ram, hard disks and GPU. Ram still not reading 24 gb only 16 gb.

Used the amd utility to remove all traces of graphic card drivers, deleted all the files manually from the drive and then re installed. Then defragged all the drives.

Now it is working great. rendered over 900 frames just now.

Well I ran Uniengine benchmarks.

The heaven one worked fine. But after running the superposition one. It crashed again. Also the tropics one crashed.

Looks like some gpu or drive problem. Going to open my computer and clean and reconnect everything again.

Hi Famecrafts,

I tried the project and found no problems with it in iClone 7.21. I was able to load and render the project to various HD resolutions with GI and DOF turned on. Because of this it would seem you have a local system issue, most likely graphic card related if the crash happens when rendering.

I would advise adding your dxdiag.txt and crash dump to your Feedback Tracker report as it will be needed by the dev team. You can also send the information to our Technical Support department if you wish using the link below.

Thanks Peter I will upload the crash dump and dxdiag files.

I disabled GI and it started using 5GB RAM from the GPU.

I have tried everything - defragged my drives, did scan disk checks for bad sectors which took hours, optimized my drives, used anti-virus and now even removed many props to reduce the VRAM use, which has come down to 4 GB now. But once it reaches 100-120 frames of animation ( this is a new scene) it starts crashing every other app in the background. If I do not click any button iclone keeps rendering till I close it at the end and then nothing works. Have to press the reset button and goes into recovery mode to fix boot sector.

I can complete animating the scenes just rendering is the problem.

Also updated to latest AMD drivers released today. Nothing works.

If GPU was the problem Blender would have crashed too while rendering but it works fine, just takes hours to render few frames.

You mention that only 4.5 GB of VRAM is showing as being in use by iClone. Perhaps there is something not in order with your GPU RAM.

I am rendering a very heavy scene in blender which is installed in the same drive and saving in the same folder and there are no crashes.
I believe the problem is with iclone in some way. Maybe the VRAM capping at 4.5 GB is the problem.
I am going to disable GI thus reduce VRAM and then try to render.

Nope after 2 and a half hour of disk check and repairing it is still crashing.
I noticed something odd - Iclone is capped at 4.5 G of VRAM. It is using .2 GB of virtual memory instead of using additional vram from the GPU.

Maybe that is why the system is crashing and giving memory error, the first app to crash is the real illusion hub app. This time the rendering finished but once I closed iclone, every other app crashed giving memory error c0000000e and on restart, it went to recovery again.

How do I make sure that Iclone can use at least 7GB of VRAM instead of just 4.5GB?

Windows keeps extensive event logs. You can access them using the Event Viewer.  No telling what you might find in there. ;)
