Passing along highlights from a Newsletter email I recieved yesterday... Indigo 4.0 release
It's been a while since our last newsletter, and we have some big news: the Indigo 4.0 Stable release! In this newsletter we'll cover some of the highlights, but please see the full release page for more info, or watch the release video. Owners of an Indigo RT 3 or Indigo Renderer 3 licence get a 50%-66% discount by upgrading from your Indigo 3 licence page. You can purchase Indigo Renderer and Indigo RT on our Store page or download a fully-featured free trial.
Brand new multi-GPU engine
Indigo's brand new GPU engine provides industry-leading performance on both NVIDIA and AMD GPUs, on Windows, Mac and Linux. With a modern GPU, it's approximately 10x faster than the high performance CPU core of Indigo 3.8, and 5x faster than the hybrid GPU mode of Indigo 3.8. What's more, this performance benefit scales with multiple GPUs in a single computer and multiple computers on a network. Simply add more cards and get the horsepower to quickly render incredible 4K images and animations.

Desktop (homebuilt) - Windows 10, Ryzen 9 3900x CPU, GTX 1080 GPU (8GB), 32GB RAM, Asus X570 Pro motherboard, 2TB SSD, terabytes of disk space, dual monitors. Laptop - Windows 10, MSI GS63VR STEALTH-252, 16GB RAM, GTX 1060 (6GB), 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD

Yes, I still enjoy using Indigo too! It's really amazing watching the Iray for iClone promo-demo on the Roadmap thread. It's like you just click a button and it enacts Iray and renders the image, much like Daz, right within iClone. I think with Indigo because it had to export out to the Indigo application, as opposed to be an integrated component within iClone, the process to move out frames takes (took) forever.
But imagine if it never had to have done that, like if it had been integrated right within iClone, somehow more optimally, Indigo would have been so much fun to use to render our animations. It renders very fast in 4.0, multi-GPU.
I have no basis to imagine, in a true head to head, whether or not Iray beats Indigo, or Indigo beats Iray, with regard to render quality, or speed.

Would the Plugin for iClone need to be updated first?

propose (2/23/2018) Would the Plugin for iClone need to be updated first?I'm not sure, but I thought someone in the forum was successfully using a beta version of 4.0 with the plug-in. I'd be careful before spending money on the upgrade (maybe be sure what their return policy is).

I've used the pre-release beta of Indigo 4.0 and it worked just as Indigo 3.0 did. The iClone plug-in still had the clunkiness (every frame needs its own copy of exported resources), but it worked in the beta Indigo. I haven't used the 4.0 release version.

Glad indigo 4 is out. Now they can get to work on updating Chaotica. So I can output some fractal videos in less than 2 days.

There actually no need to buy an upgrade. An RT 3.8 license for iClone is transparent to RT 4.0. This was a case for both beta and final release. I have not rendered with indigo for a while, but AFAIR some minor material/lights tweaking would require. Certain types of lights are not available with GPU rendering.

That's great news. I started looking at the "Upgrade RT to 4.0" page, but at work so much stuff gets blocked, I wasn't sure if I was having troubles or not. At home now. I'll have to give this a whirl.
Not saying I'll suddenly start making movies in Indigo, but I'm really curious to see what sort of performance increase I get.

Just "download" the file. Install. Quick 1st test... GPU rendering is 6x faster than before.
