I hope you are right with Automatically Generated FBXKey but sadly when I export no key has been generated am I missing the purchase?

Do make sure that you have updated to the latest version which is CC 3.31 and that you are choosing the Export > FBX (Clothed Character) option from the Menu Bar.

If you still have problems, please post a screenshot of your export panel so we can see if there is an issue with the settings you are using. Thanks.

Mike - is the FBXket found automatically or embedded - I cannot find the exported key from the DAZ model - goin crazy here

The FBXKey is generated automatically when you export an FBX character from CC. It is not embedded and is a separate file that can be found in the same folder as the FBX model.

So for example if you export an FBX character and call it Example.FBX, you will also have a Example.FBXKey file with it in the output folder.

I hope you are right with Automatically Generated FBXKey but sadly when I export no key has been generated am I missing the purchase?

Thank you so much! This seemed to have solved my problem. Question: When I finish creating my shirt in Blender, do I erase the model and armature and just export the shirt as obj alone? or do I export everything in the scene, lights and cameras included? And once the shirt does export successfully, and I have it fit and have the skin weights transferred, does the base color, opacity, bump, etc, information placement automatically transfer over, or do I have to set it up manually? Thank again.

You should export just the shirt mesh. You don't need anything else.

When you export OBJ it will generate a MTL file which contains the texture mapping information. Providing the textures are present and in the location set in the MTL file, then they will be automatically applied in Character Creator 3. However, if they are not you can manually add them in CC3 on the Modify Panel > Materials tab.

I feel you. I'm having the same issue. Exported from CC3 to fbx. Opened the character in blender where I made a shirt for it, then when I tried to open said shirt in CC3 the fbx key is nowhere to be found

If you are bringing in an item of clothing you should use OBJ format and not FBX. You won't need a key file for OBJ. In CC3 Just go to Create > Cloth, Hair, Acc... from the Menu Bar and select your OBJ.
