For anyone who wants to play with texturing props, just attach them to your avatar that you open in CC2. You could even set up a whole scene. The PBR/IBL combo can look really good!

Once in CC2, you can change the shader to "PBR" and apply a nice metallic material.

I have yet to mess with this and I am starting to see an alarming trend all this bling is cool eyecandy, but the shader setup is starting to worry me. I never thought I would have to say this with visual improvements but I am starting to worry I might have to move to blender for my things so I can use a different shader set because I dont want hyperrealism (I actually detest it LOL) so now i am scared to boot up the copy of the CC2 I have cause I am worried. I love iclone and am used to it and have been using it since before it had a decent visual quality. I fell in love with iclone at version 6 (before that it was just sort of something I touched once and awhile). I want improved lighting but this bling is starting to scare me :P
Lets hope my fears are unwarranted and my imagination is just being extra creative today. (although blender is starting to work on realtime it wont be around for awhile)
(i think that is the first depresso iclone post I have ever made oh well hehe)

@urbanlamb,
You should be able to make "non-realistic" materials in CC2 and iC7, without all the bling. Can you post a little picture of the style you'd prefer?
iClone has a "Toon shader" that some people use, but there are issues with it, so maybe we need more shader options.
In some applications, such a Substance Painter, you can actually write your own shader (or have a programmer friend do it for you). Perhaps with the API support announced for iC7 this will become a possibility. We'll have to see how deep their API set reaches. That might not be possible in the early API releases. We'll know much more in a couple of months.

I believe there is no need to worry as the system is very flexible and allows you to change the material to look the way you want. Instead of shiny you can have velvety, for example. It's really not about hyper-realism (like Indigo), but about the effect of light on an object. Think 17th Century Dutch painters for example.

haha thanks yeah I am i a bit worried that they might swing too far in another direction I have always had this wierd dream of making my own 3dcartoons using my own characters I have like 5 half built and a couple built and some "things" in my head along with an iclone 6 set with a test character ready for porting to iclone 7 in hopes that its what I think its gonna be LOL. I dont really use the CC I have played with it but its not my "thing". Anyhow its probably all the plastic bodies and shiny metal dudes I am seeing which i agree look cool but its not what i want to see for my own use LOL.
(so i will try not to worry the emissive textures and particle type fire sets are exactly what I wanted to see I have no need for much else in my stories and ideas the rest is a little bit scary hehe)

(this is kinda sort it but it was waiting for iclone 7 but you will get the idea this is iclone 6 of course.. ) edit: If i have to purchase a shader set I probably will either just ask for a refund and go back to iclone 6 or use blender because this photo is closer to what I wanted then what I am seeing produced including the starting images in the thread of the cc avatar produced by reallussion its not nice for this its too .. plastic...
