Hi Everyone! iClone 6.5 is now released! Here are a list of exciting features and important bug fixes we have included with iClone v6.5. This update will include two highly demanded requests - VR-360 and Alembic export. For 360 Video output, you can simply enable 360-degree Panorama for any of your current iClone project and make it as VR360. As for the Alembic Export, now you can experience the power of transforming any bake sophisticated iClone animated results, into compressed Alembic point cache format so that you can playback, or render them in other 3D tools without losing animation details. iClone 6.5:
New Feature:
- Export 360-degree video under Render / Panorama for VR Device
- 'Viewport Resolution' for image and video exports which will preserve the visual integrity of DOF, AO, Toon shading, and Post Effect settings inside the 3D viewport.
- "Set as Default" in Edit Motion Layer tool for character default pose assignment.
- Two new display modes: 'Xray' mode for peering through layers of clothing & Wireframe on Shaded' displays mesh wireframe on top of the diffuse texture.
- Sample thumbnail for quick save option under Preferences shaves off the time required to create a thumbnail during the save process
- Compatibility with the upcoming iClone Mocap Plug-in for Perception Neuron, ready for single and dual live mocap
Enhancement: - Get the actual frame numbers when rendering a sequence of images (Only fixed for 60 fps frame rate)
- The camera view in Indigo render is now completely identical to the one you see in iClone
Fixed:
- No more video drop-frames during 'By Frame' playback.
- Failed to apply motion clips saved from non-human characters.
- CC and G5 characters experienced shoulder flipping when applying certain motions or posing via 'Edit Motion Layer. This fix does not apply to G6 characters.
- Duplicate folders under Content Manager Actor and Animation category.
- Whole material settings are in white text, making it difficult to determine if they are keyable or not.
- 'Link to' icon vanishing from Large and Small icon and font size interface.
- Disappearance of iClone UI panels such as "Edit Motion Layer" and "Motion Puppet" after reverting from dual monitor back to single monitor display.
- Failure to launch iClone in DX11 mode on certain Windows 7 operating systems.
- iClone crashes when replacing characters in certain projects.
- iClone crashes when loading certain projects.
- Initial Force for rigid body simulations does not obey the 'Local' direction setting.
- CC Character's Indigo Materials were set as Auto-convert v2 after importing RL Head, The Skin_Head, Eye, Cornea did not keep the original Indigo shader preset as was previously the case.
- Save files took 3 to 4 times longer than in iClone 6.2 processing thumbnail.
Mixmove
Mixmove is now BACK with following great enhancements:
New feature:
- Faster command response time, bringing a smarter motion change routing system
- Added mirror motions and optimized motion library give users full power to prototype motion sequence in a fraction of the time.
- More logical motion routing deliver the best routing transition
3DX Change 6.5New Feature:- Alembic bake export for character, accessory, and prop geometry animation for rendering inside 3rd party 3D software (supports soft-cloth simulation).
- 'Embed Textures' option inside the FBX exporter for the option to include and isolate the texture maps into a separate fbm folder, or simply embed the texture into the FBX file.
- 'Split Mesh by Material' inside the OBJ exporter for Hitfilm Alembic format.
- 'Merge Opacity to Diffuse Texture' inside the OBJ exporter for Hitfilm Alembic format.
- Auto-convert to non-standrad talking character for Daz Genesis 3.
Enhancement:- FBX texture file names now consist of material and channel information.
Fixed: - 3DX crashes when removing sub-props on nodes that have been made into sup-props twice.
- 3DX crashes while exporting certain content to FBX with a Unity preset. (eg. A220B_Casual 01.iAcc)
- 3DX crashes when Exporting BVH format with certain characters.
- Specular textures do not export with the .mtl file after exporting an OBJ.
- CC FBX characters do not export with a root node.

What's New for Alembic:
What is Alembic? Alembic is an interchange file format for computer graphics used by visual effects and animation professionals. It stores"baked” animated results which allows easier data exchange between different studios working on the same projects, or between different 3D tools used in the same company.
What does that means to iCloners? - Well you can bake sophisticated iClone animated results, into compressed Alembic point cache format so that you can playback, or render them in other 3D tools without losing animation details. For example, full vertex animation from simulated soft-body physics over iClone characters'cloth and hair
- Render iClone animation in Maya, Max, Octane, LightWave, Cinema4D, etc.
- Exported your iClone works to professional compositing tools like Fusion, Nuke, Isotropix, etc
- Create static meshes from simulated soft cloth physics,or export them for 3D printing or bake soft cloth physics in order to upload them to SketchFab
Benefits - Export Soft Cloth animations
- Check out the video for comparing the FBX and Alembic results: - Export vertex and mesh animation data in OBJ or FBX
- Current frame: can be saved as an OBJ file from 3D Tools, or used it as morph target - Range: can be used to represent the desired range of soft-cloth animation - All: Can be used to display the entire simulation sequence - Alembic can carry the fully baked vertex animation between different 3D applications - To save animation range to FBX, you need to sample the blend shape keys for FBX playback in 3D tools. - Check out this video: Exportable Objects in iClone - Character
- Character with multiple accessories - select the root node of the character to include all attached accessories and cloth elements
- Single accessory
- Prop
Multiple selection is not allowed – One object at a time - Please note that the accessories attached to the character will be taken as an entity of the character.
- For other Alembic export limitations, please check the included "Alembic Export.pdf" document
User Interface Introduction
File Format: - HDF5: for Maya 2013 or earlier version.
- Ogawa and HDF5: for Maya 2014 or later version, and any other editors that support Alembic.
Export Range: - Current Frame, All, Range – To export a mesh, all meshes or a range of meshes into Alembic file. Please refer to page 3 in this document
Sample Frame: - Sample and export a vertex and meshes per specified number of frame
Axis: - Use this drop down list to set the coordinates of the target editor
Bake Opacity to Diffuse (PNG): - Activate this box, if your target editor is HitFilm, in order to merge the Diffuse and Opacity textures into PNG image due to lacking of the Opacity channel in this software
World Space: - When the animations is happening elsewhere rather than on the center of the world in iClone, activate this box in order to export the Alembic data with absolute transform information
Check out this video: Pipeline Videos for Different Target Editors: Maya:
Hitfilm:Fusion:There are some notices and limitation you need to know when you want to export Alembic files, Know More

What's New in iClone 6.5 - Other Enhancements:
Viewport Resolution
When export media that are larger than the resolution of the 3D view, such as HD or HD for 4K,what you get is not what you seen for some effects.
The effects that are influenced under this circumstance are list below (the shadow and HDR are not influenced)
The illustrations below is taken the AO as an example:
The new version of iClone 6.5 added a new export option - Viewport Resolution, which can ensure your exported image and video keep the same visual effects such as DOF, AO, Toon, and Post Effect in your 3D viewport. Please be aware that the super sampling option still can cause the visual change, please turn it off if wish to see the exact same result.
User Interface Introduction :
In the Render panel >> Output Size section, pick the Viewport Resolution item from the Frame Size drop down list.

What's New in 3DX:
3DX - Embed Texture
Add “Embed Texture” option in the FBX exporter for you to determine if your want to export the textures into isolated FBM folder along with the FBX file or simply embed the texture into the FBX file.
Difference:
3DX / Export FBX / Export texture files with easily recognizable names in combinations of material and channel names. If file names are duplicated, then we will add sequence numbers in the end.

Melanie (RL) (6/29/2016) What's New in Indigo: Indigo Render Plugin / The resolution of the view in Indigo is now completely identical to the one you see in iClone.
Hi Melanie, that is great, unfortunately you can only export "pieces of animation" to Indigo, due to the bug in the software that makes Iclone crash exporting to Indigo. So, this maybe "nice" feature for Images. But for video this is useless, as the export crashes.
