I was using Pinnacle 17 and then I decided to move it over to my new computer.
I found out that the license they give you is not for one use on one computer at a time. It is for one download only. If your computer crashes you are out of luck if you didn't pay extra for their Preimium service. The same applies to any other download you may want to have.
I am going to look for another one not from Corel or Pinnacle.

i got the platinum from amazon for a really low price at the time. They always seem to have higher prices on their main site.

Hitfilm pro 3 has its own video editor and compositor. Its a good alternative to Adobe premiere and aftereffects.
They're also very flexible with license allowing up to 3 concurrent installs. You can also deactive licenses online with no limits.

I don't know if this is any good for you. However I recently bought for a Hospice I do voluntary work for. This had Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Video Elements. I bought it on Black Friday for $59 half price for the two programme bundle. I got a great deal. I think the bundle (on Amazon) was going for $129 originally. It may be worth a look.

The Sony Platinum is $79.95 right now. They usually offer you some discounts if you don't buy right away. I am downloading the Trial now. It has the hitfilm inside it according to what I read on their site.
I will see how that goes. I don't want to put out any more than that for another several weeks.
I made a short thing with some background in it and am wanting to make it. I am going to bed now and will continue the download in the morning.

But I purchased it on CD, so no licence issues. I have it installed on both my laptop and desktop

My suggestion is Hitfilm 3. Download the trial, it's fully working no time restriction; although you can only export to you tube in SD no more than 30 second... but you can really evaluate it... it is a firly good editor, with many SFX and can do many things as AE but much more easily... my 1/2 cent

I use Pinnacle Studio, largely out of habit.

I'm surprised you're locked to a specific computer.

Have you contacted their Support?  If you explain you have a new computer they should be able to help you.
