Can't render beyond 1,899 frames Tech emailed that it is a bug to be fixed in the next patch. I uninstalled 6.01 and installed 6.0 and it now works.

|BUG| iClone Fails To Properly Save Layouts With Negative Window CoordinatesHi, On Windows, window coordinates can be negative, for instance if your second monitor is on top of your main monitor. But in this case iClone Window -> Workspace -> Save Layout fails to record the true coordinates of any window placed in the second monitor. Those windows will be saved with (0,0) position, that is on the top left of the main monitor. Solution: Please use signed integers to save windows coordinates. Windows API use RECT with LONG (signed) values. QT API uses QWidget->pos() with QPoint which uses int (signed) values. Thanks, Guy.

@Dennis: I also do save quite often (right now at version 41 for the project I am working on...). So, with the crash I lost really few modifications. But the point is that the crash recovery did not work and maybe RL can try to improve it
@Job: yes, for brand new projects in IC6 the render length is limited and RL shall fix this. But in the meanwhile, it is possible to create an empty project in IC5 and re-open in IC6... and this answers the old question asked by many ppl after the IC6 buy promotion "why should I get an IC5 for free, and what is the usage for, when I buy and use IC6 ?" :P :D

As to project length: the projects I'm working on in iClone 6 started out as IC5 projects, so that's why I didn't notice the problem. But it is there for new IC6 projects.

@Roberto, I've had good success with the "Restore" feature. I think it's quirky the way it works, but it has been good to me. I've had (at least) one file that's gotten corrupted, but I don't know if that was even related to a crashed one. I just noticed a couple days ago that I can't open it any more. Fortunately it was an early draft of a project so I didn't lose anything important, but it doesn't inspire confidence. I'm still in the habit of doing Save As rather frequently. No solutions, just saying you're not entirely alone. I wonder if Reallusion would like too look at any of these corrupted projects.

I had my 1st IC6 crash ( finally... I was tired to have a working program...:P ), so I decided to try the "restore" function. The pop up window asks whether I want to restore the project with the unsaved data: obviously I want! So, I clicked yes. Then, it prompts to save the project on the disk: I chose a new name and... message: RESTORE FAILED. If I try to open the file that was supposed to be the restore project, the message is FILE IS CORRUPTED.
i know it sounds like "shooting on the red cross" but maybe some of the ppl here who have so many issues with iClone could check if they can restore anything after a crash... ;)
Cheers
Roberto

Yes, for sure they need to fix it. But at least we are not blocked with long projects till the fix is done.

Hi Postfrosch, Animagic, Rampa, and all,
here is a work-around for the 4-digit problem:
1. Create an empty project in IC5 and save it 2. Open it in IC6 3. Boom!! Now you can select 5 digits for the rendering [BigGrin] [Cool]
. Yeah right, so it really would. I've tried the trick. Despite this Work a round there is an error in IC 6 needs to be fixed. Greetings from Germany Werner (Postfrosch)

PS: how did I find it ? because I am working in IC6 on a project started in IC5... and was able to render 5 digit frames... ;)

Animagic and Rampa have already recognized it right and I can also confirm that. Yes, you can create projects with 54000 frames and render the entire Projket (setting: all). Man can, for example, only the frame 2500 - 5000 can render (setting range 2500-5000) But try it once in denesm project frames 10100-12700 or 42300 - render 48000 (Settings: Range). It will not work, because you can only set a four-digit numbers (1 - 9999). This is because it still went in IC 5 for me a program error. Or is that a new Future possibly? Greets from Germany Postfrosch (Werner)
