I would really love a spherical 360 degree rendering camera in iClone! I use one a lot in Carrara to create wrap around backgrounds to save rendertimes. I also use those backgrounds, which are often animated. in iClone on the sky prop. I love to do it in iClone too., esp with iClone trees and the new heightmapped terrains, one could paint many trees around the perimeter animated and have birds, clouds particles etc that would bog down an already complex scene then use it as a video background on the sky prop with even more foreground objects. I also use a dome and circular plane I have uv mapped to take spherical renders. I know there are also various products in store that will load 360 panorama images and videos.

I agree. I make 360 deg images in Vue that I use in iClone. It would be nice to work the other way around, also.

Thanks for the suggestion Wendy. We will consider this for a future upgrade or version. :)

Hey, have you guys made any progress on the 360 spherical camera? IS there a way to mimic that equirectangualr effect?

Yes Yes Yes Yes!!!!
This is would be incredibly useful for creating animated reflections, (and still reflections) for prop surfaces.

Try putting a 360 spinning Box in the World Center (or anywhere else for that matter).. Perfect Rotation 0-179-358-0 <--- That is FOUR Key Positions along the timeline. Link your Camera to it, and you have a 360 Camera that can be adjusted for speed or even position along the timeline with keys that will get created for the Camera by the position of the BOX. I suggest a Box because it is easy to see it spin, whereas a Ball is not. Any object that can be turned (that being just about any prop you like) can have the camera linked to it. I just did one with less than 2 minutes time involved. The only thing you have to save is the BOX.. any camera can use it as a control for Rotation. If you want to travel around the outer edges of a scene for shots... use a path and the camera will link and follow it. Using a Path, A ball can travel 100% or more along that path and the Camera can be set to "LOOK AT" that ball. There are many ways to do this..

But is there a way to ensure your images render like this? Is there a step by step tutorial on making a path that does a spherical equirectangular 360 image?
