Oh no!! I have over 400 pieces!

What's worse is I have to go in 3DX and make ALL of them subprops. (I don't have PRO so I can't just animate it in something else. GAH!!!

Thanks.

ok here is a quick demo of the time freeze and slow down after the time freeze.
Actually, I did forget one step, after you bake the sim you have to go to the frame you want the split to happen, then you have to individually(painful if you have too many pieces) and select the "animation" channel and split the animation one by one, after that you can insert frames. Its not that bad if you shrink the viewport and open the timeline as far down as you can.

Hope this helped,

Thanks. I'll check this out when I get to my house.

AH so that's how you bake the physics. Cool beans. Thanks again!

Is it possible to slow down the physics simulation?

I've got a prop made up of a bunch of little props. (A large sphere, cut into lots of little pieces.)
I want it to shatter which is doable since it's all seporated and each piece has phys properties, but is it possible to "freeze" that simulation so it won't have to calculate it or at least slow the simulation down so that even though it normally takes about a second to shatter, it now takes five?

I know I could just render it as an image sequence and slow it down, but it'd be better if I could slow the actual calculation itself down or the result from it anyway.

Hi DC,
it is totally possible, I'm working on a shatter glass window which stops moving in mid air and the camera orbits around and then keeps on shattering as the person goes through the window.
This is what you do:
1) run the simulation
2) after you have the result you want, select all the objects involved in the simulation and in the physics panel properties for the "objects", turn physic off. ( this will ensure the simulation is baked and viewed only as keyframes/motion)
3) in the timeline under "projects" you can "insert time" where you want the sim to break, that will pause the simulation.

I'm writing this from what i remember, I dont have iclone in front of me, i might have skip a step, not sure, ill double check this when i get home but this is pretty much the procedure.

Hope this helps,
