Hi, folks,

As with all my other starships of late (Galactica, Star Trek) I have made these original series era ships through the work pipeline of Blender, 3DEXChange and iClone.

I really like how these ships turned out. Some have said they look like CG versions of the ships as they might appear in the old Star Trek Animated Series from 1972. I am building these for use in a friend's live action Star Trek fanfilm effort.

Only the Enterprise is a canon-based starship. All the other ships come from design concepts in the old Star Trek Starfleet Technical Manual by Franz Joseph.

I also put together some stock footage of the Enterprise for my friend's project. Please don't judge the planetary orbit shots too harshly just yet....I know the proportions of ship vs planet are wrong. :)

The Federation-class Dreadnought

The Saladin class destroyer

The Ptolemy class tug with my own concept of an evacuation transport attached to it

And the animation stock footage of the Enterprise...again, please be gentle with regards to the planetary orbit shots....those were only tests that will be refined in the future :)

The Enterprise was such a cool concept--and what an icon it is now in modern imagination!

I like what you're doing. I think you can strengthen it by working on your lighting, which seems to me somewhat unconvincing. In particular, the decals seem to self-illuminate too much, but all of your lighting and rendering could stand some more development.

The motor sounds are not working for me; seems better suited to a tugboat on the river. Think how much fun you can have auditioning free sound fx on the web, looking for something better than the TV series ever had.

live long and prosper, dude :)

And yes, I know that no one in space can hear me complain! ;)

I'm going to echo the compliments. Your models show the results of a lot of work and attention to detail. I would tone down the glow on the nacelles, though, and the port and starboard lights would ordinarily blink. But I like the animated glow on the nacelles, may I ask how you derived the video?

Also, the Saladin warp nacelle has the Enterprise's hull number.
