You can by the Kinect sensor by itself and it comes with everything you need hardware wise to work with iclone. You still have to buy the $99 plugin to make it worth with iclone 5.

If you buy it as part of a bundle with the xbox 360 then you have to find an external power supply/usb cord combo for it (http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Kinect-Adapter-Power-Supply/dp/B004IXRXGY). You DO NOT need the Xbox 360 to hook up to your PC, just the Kinect sensor but when you buy it bundled with a 360, it does not come with that cord since that version of the Xbox 360 does not require an external power supply for the kinect.

You'd still need to buy the $99 plugin to make it work with iclone 5, however.

No you need iClone5, the pluggin around $99 and a kinect around $150.

You do not need a Xbox and all Kinects sold separately should come with there own power supply.

Well still confused!! I know ..."What new?".... you say. :D

But at like Amazon they don't list a power supply as included with the Kinect Sensor.
It says....

I don't think "Power Supply Cable" would be the "wall_wart" power supply.
I'm sure getting a wall-wart would be easy but getting the right voltage and pin config might take a little research.

You don't need the XBox but you do need the power supply SINCE the xbox will not be used. It is my understanding that buying the kinect by itself does include the power supply and mine did.

I plugged it into the power, then my usb port, windows 7 found it immediately and listed it as hardware under "Sensor" or something like that.

From there on out it was sweet mocap music... or rather stumbling old man mocap but its all the same at my age.

EDIT: That is what I bought Mark so that should be all you need.

I know this is all sounding confusing to those unfamiliar with Kinect but it really isn't.

Basically the only people likely to run into problems are those who got their Kinect sensor bundled with a new slim XBox 360. These latest XBox's power the Kinect directly and so you won't have an external power source available.

Anyone who purchases a Kinect sensor on its own should have everything included to connect it to an old model XBox 360 or to a PC which is what we are interested in here. :)

I purchased a kinect separately last Christmas. I have an old xbox 360. The kinect came with a splitter cable for power and USB. Plugging into the computer will require nothing additional that I can see.

BTW kinect works great with the 360...looking forward to iclone.
