In what I think is my last post on this topic, I wish to share the complete practice project you guys made possible with your instructions. I sure have mega-tons more to learn but this is how far you brought me from basically nowhere. It's embossed because I plan to re-work it for later marketing to the targeted sports fans. http://www.syltest.org/VolscreenQT.mov

Your football player is looking really good Smile I'm happy you were able to make it the way you want, I fear you may have been in for a long wait if you were wait for my version. Making a football helmet in sketchup is proving to be a duanting task, I've already tried four different methods and have yet too be able to optimize it to a significantly greater degree than what's already available. I'll figure it out eventually though.

A tablet is a good investment, I would be lost without mine.

Thank you. It's not exactly the way I want but close enough. I'll go back in and experiment with the uniform more as I got an idea of why I made certain mistakes i did before.

I don't have your experience but witch Sketchup, I found it inadequate for 3DXchange to iClone transfer. The end result was never what it looked like in 3DXchange. I opted to (when they loaded instead of refusing to) use the DAZ helmets. May i suggest you just forget the helmet? Instead I'd love to have 1-2 buck skin and 19th century gentleman's outfits I mentioned earlier. But i certainly wouldn't turn up my nose at neutrally colored football uniform with a wearable helmet. Unless by some miracle i created a realistic looking one myself and we both know that's not happening anytime soon. Smile

I will be posting a screen saver link soon (I hope to let the fine folks here see what they helped me make possible.

Trying to upload my first clothing effort. Primarily the football player idea. Earlier efforts using photos and DAZ designs as overlaying material for iClone were marginally satisfying. Mostly because I couldn't get the padding of the uniforms tome come out right. But that's OK because the real point was to learn how to use PS to modify clothing on a character. I had to do a lot of re-doing and you can see that I have to refine my understanding of texture, coloring, distance, motion, proportions, and timing among other things. But without you folks here, I wouldn't even have gotten this far so here it is and THANK YOU yet again. I will leave this file uploaded until tonight or tomorrow morning and then remove it. Alley, than you for your compliment. OK, new updates:

1. Using PS as per the instructions given me on this forum, I discovered my hand-eye coordination with a mouse STINKS! I used magic wand when possible instead but it wasn't always cooperative so the rope tool was mandatory a lot of the time. BUT I just ordered a Genius PenSketch 9X12, USB tablet (wanted a Wacom Cintiq but $$$$$) for $129 on Amazon.

2. I decided to explore the concept of using iClone in to create a screensaver since I was already monkeying around with a football theme concept. I consider the effort only practice but opted to test Camtasia Studio's embossing feature at the same time. Here is the effort and making a bona fide Windows screensaver. let me know if it loads and runs right.

I'm not sure how useful this software is but it looked like it might benefit iClone users. Plus this is a meager effort to try to give back for the huge amount of help I got on this forum.

Still working on my football player project but now it's a matter of how much I want to include in it.

Update today: The helmet I (umm, cough, cough) proudly fitted to the football player fits fine. During editing when I rotate the figure 9after removing the spikey hair), covers the head on all sides. But despite trying to attach the helmet to the figure it won't stay with the character during animation. Oh it turns with his head, is there when he walks or runs but the head pokes through during animation. This is, I think, my first real experience with iClone having poke through. But then again the helmet came from DAZ so probably that doesn't count.

T

Once you have it Fitted / Attached to the character, Right Click and Remove all animation. Save it as an accessory (If attached, it will allow this). Make sure it is attached to the head.

Cricky, i had actually tried that before and it didn't work. BUT just a moment ago, tried again and it works. So now i return to animating it. THANKS AGAIN.

The Mr. Pose Accessory Kit includes a football helmet I think. In fact there are a lot of good accessories in that pack, they just have to be resized. Here is a pic.

Question: Did you animate the player to see if the helmet follows the character? I ask because my helmet taken from DAZ fits like a glove but the head pokes through during animation. Does the Mr. Pose helmet stay with the football player when you animate him?
