Well that's just great! How can someone make new clothes and add them to a character then? I tried making a new mesh and adding bones to it thinking it would attach itself to the character in the proper manner like the old Poser program allowed you to do, but when you bone a set of clothes, it just turns into a new character...LOL So I have a set of clothes dancing around with no head or members. Can anyone let me know how I would go about designing a new set of clothes for characters and getting them to apply themselves to the proper parts of the body?

You also have to make sure that the vertix order isn't changed. There was a post about this some time ago .

You can move the vertices (corners of the polys), but you must not change how many there are.
It is possible to make 1 suit into 2 or 3 this way. I have sharpened shoulders, straightened lapels, and (slightly) lengthened cuffs.
Don't over do it though! Remember that the mesh is rigged to specific bones, and UV mapped. Stretching things to much will show distortions of the movements or textures.

You can only tweak your mesh to in a new shape , but you can not delete or add polygons

The concept looked interesting so I tried to modify an upper on one of my characters. I exported the mesh to a file then brought it into Blender, modified it and exported it back out. I then went back to 3DX and clicked on replace mesh and it gives me an error message saying to make sure the imported mesh has the same number of vertices as the old mesh. Well if it did it wouldn't have been modified now would it. I cut off the bottom of the jacket and it will not replace it. Why doesn't this work?

(This was not the kind of competition they wanted.)I'm sorry to hear that... Sculptris is really nice as a first introduction to this kind of sculpting, which I'm finding a lot of fun.

To add to this: to modify the head in 3DXchange, select Face and then Export Mesh, which will save it as an .OBJ file. You can then make your changes and use Replace Mesh to reimport. If you don't have Z-brush, there are cheaper (albeit less fancy) alternatives. I've down-loaded a trial version of Silo and found it easy to work with. It's a fully functioning trial, which let's you save. A free program is Sculptris; I used it to shape Silvie's face (see this post). Thanks for the correction; I learned something! Since I don't have my own vendor thread yet, I wish to report here that Vax's original question has inspired me to develop the following CCD product, in the process of being submitted to the Reallusion Content Store. Thank you, Vax! ============================ The Heroix(tm) Heroic IClone G3 characters by General Picture We're all looking for a hero, right? Well, relax! They've arrived, and they're out of this world. At least, P'rrah is. Half-Vegan, you know, where the ladies always have the blues. Then there's Meade, from Ganymeade. He designed the generators on their chests and backs. Together, they're THE HEROIX: ready for piratical adventures in a distant nebula. Amphibious suits shield them just as well in deep waters as in deep space. Their helmets feature a heads-up display that you can animate with video textures. These are iClone G3 characters. YOU can customize their faces, skin, and clothing for piracy in the Carribean, for drama in Zeus's palace on Mount Olympus, or for mischief on the streets of Paris. Crafted in ZBrush by General Picture, these are the best-proportioned characters available for "yourcinema." NOTE: You can purchase heroic gloves and boots for these characters from Reallusion's Backstage Store! Accessories: space (or undersea) helmet, backpack generator, power amulet, belt, holsters, nose ring, and an extra hairpiece for Meade which fits inside his space helment. =========================================

It's OK Pau! As a matter of fact I continued doing more tests. Too bad I am not using Zbrush but Argile. This mesh sculpting and painting program allows to merge several OBJs into the working area. If you can do this with Zbrush too then you are on! Here is what to do: At 3DXchange load an avatar (I.E. Dylan). Export not only his upper but also hands, lower, and shoes separately using convenient names. Load each OBJ one by one by merging. (I can do that in Argile). The complete character mesh should be there right in position to work on it. Do your sculpting. This will make the clothing also sculpted, Right? Save EACH OBJ part separately, adding a convenient suffix to the name such as "UpperMod.obj" Back to 3DX, "replace" each part with the Mod parts. Export the Standard Avatar and load it at iCLone. Now the fun part! Save each clothing element (Upper and Lower) with new names and folder. Now you got your own styled Avatar and Styled clothing! It is a matter of making a new clothing wardrobe! The best is doing it with the template avatars for further texturing. I'll do Dylan "Strongo" and put it as a freebie, but first I need P. Edwards OK! before I post it. You know it is easy to become accused of "plagiarism" ha,ha,ha ;) I guess this leads to new libraries for modified avatars!!!!! Mike Back at
