8.5 update can cripple custom content

I have serious issues with the 8.5 updates so I was advised to contact support to get the files to downgrade back to 8.4. Support gave me the lastest version of 8.4 prior to the 8.5 update

However...... having followed the downgrade instructions and reverted back to IC42 CC42

Now 90% of my custom characters will not load as IC is saying they are from a newer version. even though they were created in CC up to v42 and none of them were ever loaded or altered in either IC85 or CC85

Reallusions 8.5 update appears to have unilaterally retagged custom characters created in 4.2 as 8.5 versions as part of the 8.5 update, meaning it looks like Reallusion has modified without consent content they do not own, making it unusable. Essentially robbing content owners of years of work, if they try to downgrade.
I have been using IC and CC for years and have a substantial library of custom content that I created which is now essentially gone! As assets created in 4.2 will no longer load into 4.2 version of the program, after a downgrade
Whats more None of the "template" content is affected and functions perfectly. The implication of this is that Reallusion will ensure its own content is protected but has no concerns about the security of user content.
