I was not really talking about paid or free add-ons but thinking more in terms of standalone software (such as Anima).
That is my point in agreeing with you that
there is a limit to the market “sorting things out”.
Because it is my assertion that no matter the number of alternatives (even at affordable prices), entrenched habits, familiarity and the eco system comfort bubble seems to impose a hard limit on the number of users who will actually leave entirely
to the point of literally reducing your marketshare.
Of course this is not to imply that Reallusion made some lazy choice based on having a “captive” user base
(as many software makers like Daz have done TBH)
In fact I would speculate that the limitation in this MD system is likely some technical limitation of the core software architecture that they may have determined to be too cost prohibitive to overcome, just to implement one new feature.
