Hey, folks, I know it has been a long time since I've made a tutorial, let alone a post....but this is my first ever YouTube tutorial.   I've figured out a quick and easy way to make hair cards in Blender that actually align along the head mesh so you don't have to do any superfluous conversions from Hair Curve to Mesh, to Curve and Back to Mesh again.   This also makes practically NO USE of the Geometry Nodes.  (I hate spiderwebs of Geometry Nodes).   Although this is Blender tutorial, it was meant with Character Creator/iClone users in mind.   See, Blender made a good move with their new "curves based" Hair System, but they still left a lot to be desired.  (No inate Ability to give geometry to Hair Curves similar to Bezier or Path Curves, to tilt, set radius, anything like that, without Geometry Nodes).   By happy accident, I created a method that does what we need pretty much instantly.

This is my first ever video tutorial, and there is every chance I may have skipped a step somewhere in making this.   I do plan to refine it and make an improved tut later.  For now, I hope you will find this useful for making hair cards quickly and fairly painlessly for your CC/iC characters.  (For the record, I am still stuck with CC3/iC7).

But if I pull out A default hairstyle from cc4 to blender, I know I'm skipping a step I'm not aware of most of it is invisible but certain strands and clumps of hair strands can be seen. Of those that can be seen they are visible no matter what, although some are cross sectional + which is odd because there are single strands with only 1 hair card and 3-4 clump hair strands with 1 or cross sectional hair cards. Do you have any idea as to what can be done to achieve the same result.

Hi.  Sorry so long to reply.  I think I saw your question on my tutorial (which I have since taken down because A. I accidentally skipped a step that was crucial to the process working properly.  B. I was getting some less than respectful replies from a couple of commenters)

I've found Hair Tool a bit problematic, and I think I only ever got one successful hair style out of it before Bartosz updated the add on, and I cannot afford the latest updates.   I've also found Blender's new Hair System (using hair curves) just as problematic, although they do seem to be improving it gradually).

If I remember your question at YouTube correctly though, did you try to see if it was a 2-sided materials issue with iClone/Character Creator?  As I said, I've since taken down the video I put up, but we can talk here. 

I am currently developing another method for creating hair cards that uses neither Hair Tool nor Hair System.  (and the only Node it uses is a quick connection between an Image Node and the BSDF node to create alpha transparency after setting the texture to Alpha Hashed)  It still involves using the Haircuts one makes in Character Creator's Headshot Auto mode, and involves using standard Bezier curves in Blender.   Pretty much any system for making hair tends to be tedious, and Hair Tool and Hair System seem to make some kind of negative trade off for the convenience of not having to manually make hair cards yourself.    The system I am developing though seems to be a faster process than just manually placing curves along a head mesh.    Once I'm sure the technique is 100%, I'll post another video.  It basically involves drawing curves in Blender on an imported Haircut mesh from Headshot Auto mode, and creating branches off of those curves to create fly away sections.  I've successfully made my first hair style using this method.
