Hi!

I am watching the iclone tutorial series, this episode in particular:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4yIcqMXqlQ&list=PLNV5zSFadPdkAfsCWtOQRFTkaqXIQNtSs&index=4

In the tutorial, every time he adds a new animation the character moves accordingly. For example, when he adds the walkcycle, the character advance. However when I tried to add a walk cycle, my character stays in place without actually moving around in the scene.

My question is: does this depend on the animation or is there a way to swtich between the two modes for any animation?

I also have another question. Where can I see, move or delete the facial animations? While I can clearly see the body animations on the timeline, I cannot understand where the facial animations are stored after I recorded some face puppet animation or things like that.

Thank you!

1. Walk cycle: some provided walk cycle clips are in place, so you need to add the movement to it afterwards, which can be tricky.

You would have to move the character forward as best you can and then use the Motion Correction tool to fix any deviations. It is described in the manual here: https://manual.reallusion.com/iClone-8/Content/ENU/8.0/51-Animation-Timeline-Editing/Motion-Correction-for-Sliding-Issues.htm.

2. To remove or change facial animation, enable the Expression track of the character.

Thank you very much for your help!

Another question, still regarding the time line... why is it I cannot always shorten an animation clip in the timeline? At somepoint when I tried to shorten an animation it asked me if I wanted to unlink (I think, can't remember exactly), and when I said yes then I was able to resize. However now I am trying to do the same, but the clip won't shorten.
What exactly do I need to do to shorten an animation clip?

Thanks!

I don't know off hand why it wouldn't work, but make sure you have selected the right clip adjustment option:

https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/29904ec3-d53b-4a85-84fd-782d.png

Loop allows to loop the animation, but you cannot change the length.

Shrink/Stretch changes the length of the clip but all the animation is still there, thus changing the timing. For example, if the clip is half the length, it will be twice as fast.

Shorten/Lengthen changes the length of the clip and in the case of shortening trims the animation that doesn't fit. If the clip is made longer then you will have a part at the end with only a pose.

Another way to shorten the clip (which is destructive) is to place a break point and delete the second half of the clip.
