Hey everyone,
I am currently evaluating RL software packages (CC4 and iClone 8) for our research project. While there is a purchasable solution to directly record motion capture data from OptiTrack Motive into iClone 8 we also have to make sure that we can import already captured footage into iClone as well. However, I do not get this workflow up and running. Does anyone have experiences with importing external animation data and apply it to a character? It seems like it has to work, for sure, but I cannot find any reasonable resource explaning what steps are required to import the animation and map it to the bone model of CC4 characters.
It would be a great help if anybody has a starting point for looking further into it.

Thanks in advance!

iClone 8 and CC4 will recognise most of the common standard motion types. Please take a look at the tutorial below. This explains how to import motions where the motion type is recognised.

Auto Import Motion from Known Standard

I have the same fbx file from Optitrack and when I drag it into the scene into a character it doesn't it recognize it, instead it gives me a list other standard motions to choose from and optitrack isn't included. I tried to choose one of them, but the animation broke. I tried to apply it to the MH dummies and the CC characters, same result. But, when I import it into the scene it moves well. Is there a way to retarget it manually inside iClone? or can you provide us with the characterize profile of Optitrack to use it?
Thank you!

Not inside iClone, but you can you do it in Character Creator (if you have it).
You'd need to import your
Optitrack FBX as Humanoid character, map bones and then save custom profile for importing motions.

Unfortunately, I don't have it. I'm just looking for a simple, ready-made profile like the other sources, so I can just drag and drop!
Could you please share it with me if you have one?
Thank you!

You can download the free trial of CC4 to see if that will help you. You should be able to import/export a limited amount of FBX files.
You can download Accurig for free from Reallusion. That might help you also. Free Auto Rig for any 3D Character | AccuRIG
