I just installed IC8 in a total separate folder structure than IC7, loaded my current IC7 project (15000 frames), everything went pretty smooth, I started rendering as MP4, I cancelled, but when I chose "Save" the IC crashed. Tried the same three times in a row, three crashes in a row. IC7 is having no problem. Pretty exciting start for the money :D

P.S "Optimize with Fullscreen rendering" has gone in IC8?!?

Also you can turn on hardware rendering.
I am so busy , didn't get to try but rendered once without issues in MP4

I used cc4 to make a 4 k avatar and sent it to Iclone 8 and rendered a high resolution MP4 video.

I'm not interested in Hardware rendering since long time ago, on comparation I liked more IC's software rendering.
For MP4s, since I'm using them for fast previews, I'm rendering in 2K @ 30fps, the final rendering I'm doing in 4K PNG sequence.

Can you try a new character from CC4 ?

I didn't install yet the CC4 - even with IC8 I won't count on it too much, I'm expecting RL will came with a patch in a month, me I'm happy it didn't affect the IC7 so I can continue there on my clip :P

It seems I've been superficial in checking - the crash indeed occurs consistently and for sure is related to avatar's hair. I've tried to replace the avatar with others to which I attached in CC4 the same hair, yes, it's crashing. If I'm replacing the hair with another one, there's no crash. Crash doesn't seem to be related with the MP4 encoder - app crash no matter if I use hardware/software encoder.
Also, crash doesn't seem to be related with a particular last frame - no matter how long I set the timeline, IC crash at the last frame.
It might be related with a particular rendering - light or physics - condition in the project, since the same avatar used in other projects doesn't make IC to crash.

I will try to simplify as much as possible the project to make a small one to be tested here by who's willing to.
P.S the hair is native RL "Chic bun medium" - both the one in Hair/HairStyle and the one in Hair/HairGroup/Hair, but I don't think it's necessarily its fault, rathen than IC's.

Update: OUCH! Tried rendering 29 frames of large project I rendered successfully in IC7 in the past. Crashed at frame 27!




If you have already stripped your project, please open an FT ticket and attach it there. I am too lazy to strip mine :w00t:

OK, I minimized the project as much as possible and I replaced the character with IC8 "native" Camilla to which I applied in CC4 the (assumed) "troubling" hair "Chic bun medium".
I downloaded the zip (78MB) myself to be sure the project still crash (and it's crashing) so please have a check yourself to see if it's crashing on your IC8 too, so we can send it "safely" to Feedback Tracker.
