What is the FBX key and how can I find it?

HI there, whenever I try to import models to CC3, it tells me to enter a FBX key, which I cannot find no matter what? Can some1 plz kindly tell me how to find it?

Hi...

An FBXKey is generated when you export a character from CC3 to edit in 3rd party tools. Then when you bring the edited character back into CC3 you can enter the FBXKey that was generated on export.

For characters you wish to import like Daz Genesis characters you use Transformer where no FBXKey is required. In addition if you wish t bring in hair, clothing and accessories you can go to Create > Accessory and again you won't need an FBXKey.

FBXKey; Except for DAZ characters transferred to CC3 with transformer, I guess to avoid transferring characters that are incompatible with CC3 to the program.
CC4 is not supposed to have FBXKey.

Has nothing to do with incompatibility , It is necessary to import CC Character back.  That protect the Morph Sliders so you can not use  for unauthorized resale. 

e.g You morph a Character and export, change a little bit and you want sell as if it is you own, but that is forbidden. The FBX Key save all information and you can only import if the fbx key fit. If you now make a new slider, the User need all morph there was used. You can not  sell this as a single new morph. 

Otherwise export the Character unmorphed and change the geomerty , you can make you own morphsslider  for sell.

CC4 is not supposed to have FBX Key.


 I hope not, because I use for weight painting an another Programm.

Maybe you can be right.
As you said, if that's the purpose of RL, it means nothing more than just causing difficulties for its users.
This should be just a licensing issue in my opinion.

But on the other hand, if you don't have FBXKey, you can import everything.
So how does it work if you import a non-standard character into CC3?
It does not have an infrastructure that supports it like CC4.

Morphs won't work anyway.
It can even cause the program to get confused and crash.
You can only use it in iClone using 3DXChange.

But if CC4 requires FBXKey then you cannot import your non-standard characters.
Then I think they couldn't have made the non-standard characters shown in the CC4 promo videos.

I'm just trying to think logically but I could be wrong.

A Morph is only  a new Geometry based from the same mesh not a new mesh.So you can only sell data that are made by you.That mus be protected.

You can not import an non Standard CC3 Character only morphs

Btw CC4 will be a union from CC3 and 3D xchange , not really a new thing , but better useability.

Yes, you are right.
This is nothing new.
But it's a huge new feature for CC4.
Because CC3 does not support 3DXChange, so you cannot import your characters.
Maybe the purpose of FBXKey is to protect morphs as you said. But it can also be a precaution as you can't properly import your own specially equipped characters into CC3.
So it's not just morphs I'm talking about.
The CC3 program seems to be 100% dependent on CC characters.
After all, you can also apply morph using iClone.

CC4 also uses FBXKey when used in the way I described previously, but you won't use FBXKey when importing non-standard FBX characters into CC4.
