My custom G3 character doesn't have 'stretch bone' activated in the 2D Motion Key Editor but when I apply an animation template preset the bones still stretch. I made the character from the basic human PSD template. I'd like my bones to never stretch. Am I able to that? Is it because it's a template animation? Thanks if you can help.

Hi...

Please take a look at the tutorial below. This explains Motion Retargeting which should help prevent the issues you are having.

Hi. I watched the video and I didn’t see anything in it explaining why the preset motion with stretch bone turned off still stretches the bone. I adjusted the motion retargeting and didn’t see a difference. Will there always be some bone stretch even with stretch bone turned off ? Does it make a difference if it’s a preset motion or a custom one? Any ideas? Thanks.

I don't see any bone stretching when using pre-set motions with my own characters so I'm guessing the issue is specific to the character you have created.

Perhaps you could record a short video showing the issue occurring and post it here so we can better see what the problem is. Thanks.

Hi. This is a preset of a hula dancer bending their hip up on my own character. The left leg is is stretching although stretch bone isn’t activated. Is this for perspective? My concern is that the stretch in some presets made dents or unwanted ripples in my character’s body and I corrected it in the motion key editor.https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/200b12e2-89d1-43f7-a45e-67d7.pnghttps://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/e611724e-4991-4703-b59c-3212.png

Selected part or full body, stretch bone checked or unchecked makes no difference. The bones still stretch. I’m sorry to keep bothering you with this but I’ve watched the videos and the manual is the worst manual I’ve ever dealt with. No index? Look at the page ‘Introduction of the 2D Motion Key editor’. The numbers don’t match the text reference. The manual assumes everyone knows what they’re talking about. There’s no technical terms highlighted to take you to an explanatory page. No index? I don’t have the brain power to memorize the entire manual. Sorry for venting. I do appreciate your help. Thanks.

You can try to use hotkey "E" and adjust the bone position.
Because "Stretch and Squash" is working on four limbs.
Hold "E" and drag the Hip bone, that could help you to make your animation.
