Hello everyone,

I need help regarding the implementation of the texture. I'm a beginner in Iclone and 3d animation and modeling.

I bought some 3d models on Sketchfab and Cgtrader and when I download them the files are split in two parts. One with the model itself and another file with all the textures. When I import the model to iclone it comes without the texture and I had a look at some tutorials on youtube trying to understand how to place the texture. I could do it successfully for one case but it was an easy one. There was only one mesh and the textures were the following for example (DefaultMaterial_Base_Color / DefaultMaterial_Metallic / DefaultMaterial_Mixed_AO) So it was pretty easy to find where to place them as on most of them the type of texture was specified.

However this time I bought a big one with 1500 meshes and I have no idea where to place most of them. For example the first texture is called "6e6ee6a329c2"  So I have no idea where it is supposed to be placed between this 1500 meshes and which of the 9 channels it belongs to.

Do you have a tutorial to suggest me so I can learn more about the texture and understand how to place them for a case like that ?

Also last day I downloaded a model that I found on Sketchfab and when I opened the fbx file on 3d viewer I saw that all the textures were already included and same when I opened it on Iclone, the textures were automatically implemented. Do you know why this time it was like that ?. Is there a way to import any model on iclone with all the texture already included automatically ?

Thank you very much for your help.

Regards,

Arnaud

Hi, and welcome to the Forum. First things first, black text on a black background is impossible to read. This can be avoided by selecting all the text in the message window, clicking on "A Format" below the window and then on the Eraser icon to make it readable for all:

75% of original size (was 673x19) - Click to enlargehttps://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/6c961444-c1a6-425c-867b-433b.png

Now to the texture question. Without a correct naming convention it would be almost impossible to know where to include which file where. Given what you have described it would appear that your only solution is to contact the developer directly and ask for an industry standard FBX file.
