I've never had an Iphone before I recently bought one to use with Live Face Iclone mocap. I've heard in tutorials that the mocap works best when the Iphone is connected to the PC directly through a cable. I see there are different ways to do this...through Itunes or through a personal hotspot...maybe other ways as well. Appreciate if anyone can let me know the best way to connect the Iphone to Windows PC for best mocap results. Thanks!

I just use the provided iPhone charging cable and plug it into a USB port on my PC. Never had a problem. Just have to make sure you type ":999" at the end of the IP address in MotionLive. You don't need iTunes (probably don't want it running in the background anyway while you are doing face capture)

I confirm Gordryd. I've never needed another cable for my connection to the pc. The simple usb cable works. for my part, itunes must be opened every time I connect my iphone if not it doesn't work. I activate the "share connection" , and Iclone recognize my IP without typing it.

I use an ethernet cable setup -- works better (for me) than the USB one and just far easier to setup (plus I never have a lag that I do notice when I use USB). But whatever works for you.

Mike, thanks, that's my ultimate goal, to reduce the lag time I currently experience. But forgive my ignorance...you're talking about some special cable adaptor to go from the lightning connector to the PC ethernet port, right? Something like this ethernet lan ? And do you think this ethernet connector would work without a sim card? My wifi connection works without a sim card.

That's not the one I use but, yes, that's the kind of thing that works. I don't know why you would need a sim card - I even turn on the iPhone to airplane mode when I run the ethernet adapter (so it's not even capable of making or receiving phone calls). That's really the only way it works.
