I've read everything in this thread and decided to chime in with my own experience with the tools in case there may be others who are looking for this information.
I purchased the 360 Face and Hair during the Black Friday Sales. I am brand new to Cartoon Animator and so thought having these tools may prove to be indispensable to me. Prior to the purchase I created a character from scratch and successfully brought it in utilizing the white paper templates. I was disappointed to see that my character took the EXACT same amount of time to bring in to CTA4. I attempted to do this AFTER watching the tutorial that was discussed earlier.
These are simply a series of templates that is not unlike the templates that comes with the software. The process is exactly the same. You have to line up all of the cross hairs to their corresponding facial parts and place everything in the correct folders. There is not a separate UI that aids you in placing things in the correct place like I had first believed.
As far as the Hair tools, i could not get those to install in the proper place. It was in the application folder, yet not in the folder that made it show in CTA4. I attempted to manually place it in the appropriate place to no avail. I contacted Reallusion for a refund.
For anyone who would like to see if these templates are any different , I would suggest trying the sample "Head tools" template that the software has. I do not see that the positioning of the template's nose, eyes, and mouth made any difference whatsoever, no matter what my character looked like. The crosshair positioning is what the software refers to when bringing the character in. The template itself is erased prior to saving.
