Excited to join the community!
We wanted to introduce ourselves and get feedback on how we can best work with iClone7 and its users (iClone7 tutorial at the bottom of this post).
RADiCAL is a team of CG researchers developing AI-powered motion capture solutions for modern 3D pipelines in film, gaming, previz, and real-time virtualization.
In short, our AI requires just a single consumer grade camera and an internet connection. No hardware, no suits. Grab a camera, record a video of your favorite motion, upload it to RADiCAL, and download an FBX file with a complete 3D animation dataset. The system is available now at https://getrad.co/, through the web, from home, with no setup, hardware or software requirements.
WebGL samples (in 3D) are here, here, here, here, here and here. We're also about to release real-time products, such as Studio (an on-prem MoCap app) and an SDK for iClone7.
Free trials have also just become available. Finally, here's the iClone7 Tutorial (by Simon Keating) for CORE, our cloud product: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2641598936085967

Yes. It's tempting. But I don't like the business model. They limit the amount of animations and esports to 3 minutes per month if you rent the lowest price rate. The next step is limited to 20 minutes. Everything works online, so it seems. Those reduced times of recorded animation is far from reality, where you have to do a lot of trial and error to get the motion right ...

Hi Gaven,
Welcome on board and thanks for your 20% discount promo and free trial! Thanks for the friendly gesture, and let me pin this thread for one month in return, so that our community members will not miss the promo :-)
Have fun and welcome to the community!

RADiCAL (https://getrad.co/) is a great find GavanGG thank you for sharing. It may put the expensive software and suit guys out of business eventually. I am all for making animation more fun and accessible for newbies and independents.
I am not a sponsor or affiliated with RADiCAL but after consideration, it gives you an option to use the service for smaller sequences in your animation process as well as a full subscription. It depends on how much MoCap you do in a year vs. a suit sitting on the shelf plus an expensive iPhone / iPad purchase.
The service of using an AI is going to save a lot of time in the production pipeline. You will still need an actor unless you are an actor/animator. An option worth consideration would be to create your video sequence with overlap (handle) of each motion, edit your video sequence together and get a monthly service that fits the length of your video. If you think about all the costs of a suit and the software plus an iPhone X then the RADiCAL option is not so expensive. Especially over the long term. A suit and software can become worn, hard to keep clean or even become damaged. The suit and Mocap software may be expensive to upgrade eventually.
RADiCAL In Short - Services like this for independent animation are most welcome. Saving time, large investment and expensive long term upgrades.
Future - It would be great to see what RADiCAL or a similar company do with AI accurate Facial MoCap as a video to FBX file service. The Motion LIVE and Facial MoCap solution on offer from Reallusion is still so expensive for independents and newbies, especially when a simple Webcam to Facial Mocap should be free with iClone, IMO. More users would dive into iClone & Character Creator if a simple Webcam Facial Mocap was included for free (like it is free for Character Animator from Adobe).
Pros/Cons of AI Mocap - The pros I have already written about above. The cons may be the company looks well-funded with some heavy-weight players. Maybe they are thinking about using the technology not just for harmless animation but for population surveillance use later on? There is a fine line, like most technology, it is a double edged sword. Also for RADiCAL I am curious if AI can handle two or more characters in the same in a video sequence, or how you can have 2 actors having a conversation in a close-up shot. One step closer to a new industry of MoCap actors.
If you are just wanting to get into MoCap without hiring an actor, you can experiment with iMotion with these free MoCap files. I posted this FREE resource here. https://forum.reallusion.com/450892/iMotion-BONUS-BVH-release-of-CMUs-motion-capture-database-Full-Mixamo-Motion-Capture-Library

"Those reduced times of recordedanimation is far from reality, where you have to do a lot of trial and error toget the motion right ..." You have a point there, but I suggest that the expense depends on themoment that the purchase decision is made – if the purchase is made AFTER you previewed themotion then the trials and errors can take place in cyberspace. This lessens the expense considerably.
There are a lot of questions I should like to ask this group - is there any way that can be arranged?
