Greetings!

I’m trying determine what advantage having both 3dx and CC pipeline would offer that having 3dx pipeline and reg CC wouldn’t?

Hi...

For avatars, Character Creator 3 Pipeline comes with a feature called Transformer. This allows you to import Daz3D, Poser and Hivewire characters/hair/clothing/accessories and automatically convert them to standard CC character formats. This means that as a standard character you can swap all clothing, hair and accessories freely between characters and further edit the character in CC3 if you wish.

3DXchange 7 Pro/Pipeline can also import avatars but only converts them to non-standard characters. This means that the character can't be opened in Character Creator and can't swap any clothing. However it can still be fully animated in iClone 7 if the character is correctly rigged prior to import.

3DXchange 7 Pro/Pipeline also allows you to import and convert 3rd party props and motion clips for use in iClone 7.

Perfect, thank you!

Coming over as a Daz/Poser user from back in the day, my hope was to be able to experiment with the content I have, before building my own.

In looking over the product descriptions, it didn't offer a page comparing the features of the pipeline tools that I could find?  It might be a useful tool for others as well, but hopefully this post will serve in the interim.

Does Exchange 7 allow me to export character I create in CC3 non pipeline to 3DS Max or Unreal? Thx.

Yes, if you have 3DXchange 7 Pipeline you can export CC characters to 3DS Max or Unreal in FBX format.

Thank you for the quick reply.  I guess the main difference between Exchange 7 and CC Pipeline would be additional import of Daz 3D Characters?

There are a couple Daz characters I couldn't import through CC3 such as the 'robot' type characters like BotGenesis, so I used 3DXchange for that (even that had its issues at first that seemed to be resolved now).

Honestly, I did a little test between the two programs and I learned that my earlier 'human' DAZ characters that I had to import via 3DXchange before CC3 look much better and more 'detailed' than the same exact ones imported through CC3.

Thank you.  It sounds like Exchange have everything I need to get models in and out of iclone and CC3.
