Hi, so its better t just leave it alone until the update of the smart gallery. So, how do you guys find what you want when you are not sure where to look? Also, someone who knows when you buy or get free content from marketplace or content store if the "shop" knows if you have bought it before so you don't get doubles? I know DAZ store has a good solution for this problem because it only lists the items you don't have from before. That way if you check for do not show items you already own, you will not buy items you already have. Does Reallusion have this? animagic (4/13/2020) Be mindful that Smart Gallery currently expects things to be in the place where they were installed initially. Otherwise, if you select "Show in Smart Gallery" for an item in the Content Manager, it will not be found.
RL has mentioned an update to Smart Gallery that allows custom folders, but we're not there yet.
The problem is that when the Market Place was created, no rules were in place regarding naming and location, except that a prop needed to by under Props, for example.
There were also no checks on the uniqueness of names. So I have characters from the talented Wil Veeke, where Avatar1, for example, is either a dog or a girl..:P As, according to Smart Gallery, they both need to be installed in the same location, Smart Gallery only displays one.
Wil Veeke may actually have made a distinction in location, but that got lost with the transfer to Smart Gallery.
Result: I have an enormous number of characters and even more props that are lumped directly under Character or Props that used to be in unique subfolders.

Strange that content you buy from content store or market place is not placed more logically e.g to the Authors name or something, then it would be easier to find the content.
Some of that is how the author sets up the installation directories when creating the package. Jeff

I see. Strange that content you buy from content store or market place is not placed more logically e.g to the Authors name or something, then it would be easier to find the content. Mabe some other solutions as well, but the way it is now, its time consuming to really find anything you buy and where it is. Thanks for your insights, I appreciate it:-) jlittle (4/13/2020) One reason NOT to move the original item is that if there is ever an update to that item and you re-install the item, it will install in the original location, not the location you have moved it to. Then you have to move the updated files to your new location. Now that is not a big problem, if you remember to move the file, but using a shortcut leaves the item in it's original location and you don't have to worry about moving files around.
Of course, for your CUSTOM items you can create any folder structure you want from within iClone.

Ok I understand, thanks for letting me know your ideas and solutions. I appreciate it Delerna (4/13/2020) You can move models you buy but you cant do it through iClone itself. You need to go into the folders where the models get saved through the computers File Explorer and then you can move things however you want and they will still show up in iClone providing you create folders in the iClones proper folders. I leave the models where they get saved and just create shortcuts of them and move those around instead. Reasons I do that is I can rename the shortcuts to whatever I want. That also makes it easy for me to know where the actual models came from because they are kept where they got loaded and the name stays as it was. I can duplicate the shortcuts as many times as I need so I can have in as many folders that they apply to. Makes it easier to find things for me Moving the models themselves is fine but can cause some problems, especially with the new Smart Gallery. If you don't care about that then moving the models themselves is fine.
As I said though they do need to follow certain specific folders but you can create your own folders inside them. I just highly prefer to do it with shortcuts. You need to find the way that suits yourself most of all.

@ Delarna Hi and thank you for the solution and your answer. I will take a more deep look and see if this could work for me:-) Strange there is no option inside iClone 7 to make new folders and drag and drop the things you want inside new folders. When you download or purchase content from the market place or content store I was hoping the things you downloaded automatically imported into iClone in a way that makes sense, but it doesn't. It's a guessing game where the content is and its time consuming to many times look for the content you have purchased. Yes, you can do a search but if you don't know what you are searching for then it's just a hassle. Sometimes the content you buy is put inside a folder with the Authors name, then you can find it easy, but sometimes it's not. I wish I could directly make folders inside iClone, drag and drop them where I want them. This is possible with custom content so why not do the same with content you buy? It makes no sense to me at least.

By the way. In the past I posted a forum here that gives people the ability to download the programs I created that helps me to move my shortcuts and or rename them. Gives me the ability to make a change to many things really quick. I only use them very little but they help me do lots of changes when I need to. Might not be something you want but your welcome to them if you think they are helpful
