Hello there, does anyone know why the hair on this character might be glitching? During animation, sometimes the hair disappears completely.   I have a couple of hairstyles that have this problem:
76% of original size (was 664x19) - Click to enlargehttps://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/c5c732b1-f3a1-4dad-9508-441b.jpg

that could be a variety of things,  so i'd suggest troubleshooting this via checklist approach

1 -opacity maps -  I see that strange corner on the hair -  Daz opacity maps tend to do this often,  so tweaking opacity settings,  trying the alpha threshold to adjust manually ...basically daz opacity is sensitive to daz studio,  and with recent Iclone builds opacity maps have become sensitive with it's own settings...and sometimes you may even have to tweak them with a photo editor. -  consider when you import a daz character through cc3,  i don't believe you are actually importing the daz character,  you are reshaping the iclone base mesh to mimic the daz shape....the clothes and hair come in separately as props on a new mesh -  what could possibly go wrong ? lol

2 -  I see the strange random hairs,  dunno if that's part of the basic style ...or a morph gone wild ...so i'd check morphs

3 - then there's the fact that iclone is the nsa of keyframing,  and records every move you make ...so if you adjust the wig at frame 30 and go back to frame 1 ...it's animating from the original shape to the shape you created at frame 30,  so to check this off the list ..go to the last frame in your project ....select the wig,  then select animation ..or right click,  and select "remove object animation"  to prevent any accidental animations.

these are 3 things that come to mind that would make your character wig out (pun intended),  that you should inspect

oh,  1 more comes to mind,  mainly with 3DXchange.....in daz....the hair has it's own full body rig ....so I usually export the wig separately as obj from daz to remove the rig and circumvent any issues of the wig reacting to the rig in iclone.  I'm not exactly sure how cc3 does it,  because I usually import daz hair through 3Dxchange as obj,  and the character comes in bald.  3Dxchange is also usually more accurate with the opacity maps,  and with the characters it imports the actual daz mesh vs morphing a mesh in cc3.

lots of extra info here,  but if you understand whats happening behind the scenes in the software,  it's easier to troubleshoot issues in general.

It could be the Nvidia problem that I reported here: https://www.reallusion.com/FeedBackTracker/Issue/Artifacts-when-rendering-hair-close-up.

The solution, provided by RL is the following:

Please download ROV Tool,double-click IC7-CC3-Rov-ON-2.reg and try it again. Please let me know the result.Thank you very much.https://drive.google.com/open?id=1B9ZP0MKbhkGDRK5KlwYQ_3-9DGITAuTPhttps://goo.gl/b7KKFp

Thank you planetstardragon! --- but the character is native CC3 and the hair was purchased from the RL marketplace.
Thank you animagic !  I looked at your trail of clues and tested out rendering a small sample without SS and not full screen.  The render seemed to render without artifacts.
Now I'm going to try the ROV Tool, thank you for providing the link.... here goes...

Ani!!!!! You’re a lifesaver. I’ve been struggling with this and also noticed that if I didn’t use super sampling it was OK. Nice to know there’s a solution!

The ROV "patch" did not solve my problem (maybe because I have an AMD graphics card?) but turning off SS and also turning off FULLSCREEN RENDER eliminated the hair glitches.
Hmmm... I always use SS, so a bit of a disappointment there.  I hope RL can fix this bug for everyone who might suffer from it.

the opacity map approach should still work though to at least fix the hair strands - whether it's daz or not.  I recently had the same error, with almost the exact same triangle on the same side...basically it's the opacity map not lining up correctly.  -  that's for at least the triangle error I'm seeing on the left of the picture. basically you have to fix it manually until they fix that bug,  but at least you should be able to fix it.

Disabling Full Screen is not enough. You have to render with fairly small view-port size. Only then you may get a satisfactory results with SS enabled: https://forum.reallusion.com/FindPost423599.aspx
