No worries Nicole. Thanks for the description.
I did not see that one with the bottle explosion was coming. Nice touch - bottle broke - genie escaped. Now I know it was a point light :)

So...the bad news is I apparently only archived the original, not my version, and I was in a disk-cleanup frenzy (I only have 1tb, and no, I never thought I'd say "only" to a terabyte of storage), so I deleted it. Sad

So, I'll try to recall what I did:
Aside from changing the textures to make them more "sci-fi" colors, I turned off most of the overhead spotlights, keeping only those that highlighted the characters, and changed the color tone of each to sort of go with the signage. I made another GI plane for the outside (more passing lights), and changed the window reflection to something (????) so make it look more like a cityscape. Pretty sure I have a point light on the camera end, and a dimmer, bluer one toward the far end of the car (for ambient). The IBL would be on very low, probably 3 but maybe (max) 10. The GI anchor follows the camera, but isn't linked. I put one more point light (very small range) into the bottle, attached it, and added more shininess to the bottle (although I don't remember how). Then keyframed that light to flare up when it broke. I made the dark flashes more flickery and added the fade in at the beginning to go with the end--I think that was in Effects? I also added a LUT that wasn't there originally, but don't remember which one, now, (grrr), to give it more of the sci-fi feel.

I took out much of the signage or changed the images on the signs to simplify the visuals, and made the transparent posters in Affinity, set to a low glow. And tweaked the camera to show the one poster before going down to look at Drunken Zane.

Overall, my settings are GI voxels on 32, maxed out with reduce light flicker and 2048 res on all shadows, with reduce shadow flicker on. No SS but high quality DOF on, rendered as mp4 in 1080. I remember it took longer than I'm used to to render, maybe 30-40 minutes? No post other than adding the title.

I wish I remembered better what all I did, but I made it several weeks ago, then got busy and forgot to post it until I saw the recent one.

Sorry about losing mine--it's experiences like this that encourage my digital hoarding, sigh.

Nicole

I probably did link the wrong file. I was uploading both, one to archive and one to share. I will check and see what I find...But I have to be on my Windows to do that, so it'll be a bit...

Hey nelm2010. Thank you for taking time and making Subway Car from hell :)
Great effort!
Unfortunately, when I use your link to download the project, it leads me to the original Car project.
Did you submit original project by mistake? Or there is something wrong with my browser cache?
I actually tried a couple of different browsers.

Hi all,
I saw this fun project and decided to play with it, too. Mine is not as wonderful as ToyStoryLab's interpretation--nothing new, really. I was in a Hallloween mood, and changed the characters to some off my "monster" characters, tweaked the lighting, and messed with the subway itself to try to invoke a futuristic feel. The only "story" change is a slightly different focus, which I changed the one camera and the signage to highlight.

And, as requested in the original post, here's a dropbox link to my version. I put the characters back to stock, to avoid the dreaded watermark, but I left my skin on buffed out Zane and on the "demonic" housewife--no idea if that will come through or not. This has my lighting and settings. I tried to name or rename what I changed (lights and characters), so it would be clear, but ??? no idea if it will.  https://www.dropbox.com/s/xojp7vl9zz26f30/SUBWAY_CAR.zip?dl=0. Let me know if that somehow doesn't work...

At any rate, this was super fun--I tend to keep doing different versions of the same things over and over again, so it was great to play with something new (without having to think it up first!).
