FBX import is the best option to get the smoothest animations , it could take longer to import , especially when you have a lot of facial morphs , but when it's imported you can use it for every project and every CC3 Character.
Over the time I imported a lot of animations and I always have them in every project.

I use Live-Link for In Place facial animations or Head/Eyes follow camera animations , there it is working great.

I have imported in animations and it works good, Bassline has done more recently.  To the Previz idea, you can plot movement in a UE4 scene within iC7 with LiveLink, and then once you like what you have - and essentially wish you could Live Link it at that point - you can just export FBX and then you have the animation ready and smooth in UE4, bypassing LiveLink.

In the past, if you went from iC7 and into UE4 (Octane Render as well), I would find maybe I would want to adjust the lighting and would wind up deciding to redo the animation.  But now with LiveLink you get a real-time feedback as to what it will ultimately look like in UE4, so treating it like a Previz tool becomes a valuable time saver.  Funny too, when a project is done, its done...viewers will not care how you did it, or what mechanic led you to arrive at your end result.  So, it's sometimes better not to fight with imperfections in a paradigm and just go with what works.

Interesting what you say about your son's rig, and seeing what a difference i7 vs i9 does.  I think RTX will in fact speed up the Raytracing for sure, but outside of Raytracing, 1080Ti should handle UE4 really well, if not the same (as long as scene components are not exceeding 11Gb VRAM).

Tony, my i7 and 1080ti are great for what I want but as always....we always want more! and yes without ray tracing everything looks good and smooth, RTX though will be on my shopping list when the time is right.
Your live link previz idea sounds like a good workaround for what I/we need for smooth top-quality animation and with final tweaking, lighting, camera work etc all finished in UR for a much better workflow. Now, this sounds very workable so thanks for that.

Anyone know if we can sync the playback of IC sequencer and UR sequencer so they start at the same time? I was thinking of sequencing the camera in UR rather than the IC camera.

Hey Charly , what a cool scene. :-)
Hmm , looks like a LOD thing.
LL import or FBX import?
Does the Character look ok without any Environment?
Its hard to say , could be normals , tangents , lod , a.s.o...

Would it be ok to send me the Character , so I can have a deeper look into it?

Syncing is not possible right now , as far as I know , only recording.

Thanks Bassline,
Another question from others with a longer .....more than a week.. with working with live link.
So far I have found that I can get live link working fine, then for some unknown reason, the link breaks and will not work or rather, it says the link is working with green dot in IC and connected in UR but no matter what I do the only way is to delete the imported character in the UR IC folder and do a new transfer.
Point is, have others found the same problems, or is it most likely in my case user error?
Thanks for any insight with this as it will really help moving forward. ie what I should not do?

Hi Bassline, I always use FBX transfer because there's no need to record with sequencer and the audio is already syncro exactly.

I'm okay to  send you the character. The fbx or the CC3 character ? And how ? the easiest way is wetransfer and I give you by PM the link

in view from afar, the scene is very good, and here is the rendering in nativ iclone, no problem
