you don't have to delete anything.

1. Lens flares are only working when bloom is on. (PostProcess)
2. You also have a lens flare setting in your Camera settings...have a look.

After reading this:
"Try to delete the Saved, Intermediate and if there is one DerivedDataCache sub folders from your project file
which will force the engine to recompile all rendering aspects of the project."

I at least deleted "DerivedDataCache" but that did not work.

What are the consequences when I delete "Saved" and "Intermediate" of my Project??

But that will be something for tomorrow...;)
