The new one (pose asset) works fine with LL , but the old one works better for FBX export (eye rotation) !

I think you can see which Characters are MHs and which are not.





Yeah, that was on my watch list, just saw it. It’s excellent, it’s also the emphasizes the reason I’m not doing Metahumans anymore apart from this last project for the lip sync competition.

It s even more apparent when I’m watching the new resident evil series on Netflix, realistic characters, still well in uncanny valley with all that team and budget behind them.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s very good but the human brain being trained to spot non human like behavior, it just doesn’t really work at the moment. Stylized will work better for now as the brain interprets it as non human so doesn’t interpret the flaws the same way. Just my opinion.

I know what you're saying.  The average non-artist can indeed see Meta Humans as CG a mile away.  People were claiming to be tricked just for dramatic effect, but nothing CG fools anyone without really having been made of doctored live footage.
Now on the other hand, I think stylized comes off to me as an artists' way of saying, " I can't do it, so I'll try to make it toony"....But then it's neither toon, nor realistic; it's just lost in the middle....Digital animated toons is one thing....but  I'd rather see a realistic attempt in an uncanny valley than a stylized art form that can't figure out if it wants to be toony or realistic.

I agree, I think we have the same view here. It's important to know what genre you are aiming for and the character and animation style involved otherwise turns out a mess. For instance, I am looking forward to this series here as an example of where it just fits, it is an integrated thought-out style. Game-based yes, and I'm not a fan of the render comic style but you see what I'm getting at. Oh also, I use this type of guide to try to define what I'm doing for starters.

Yes I like the Arcane Style or the LOL Style is great too :



When you look at it , you can see that the animations are perfect human (sometimes a little bit faster) , that is so fascinating (Spock would say)

It is not only the Style it is the animation too !  There is no stutter ... clean at all.
