I am trying to render a scene in Iray that has a semi-close-up on one character and no matter what I do the character's eyes appear to be black with white dots in the rendering. What is the problem and what should I do?

Are the eyes set to "Traditional" or "PBR"? What are the Specularity/Glossiness or Rougness/Metalness settings? What are the Opacity, Reflection, Refraction settings? These are all found in the Modify panel, and you need to check both the Eye and the Cornea settings.

The eyes have always been set to PBR. And I can't change this look no matter what I do in the modify panel.

Are those CC eyes? Eyes in Iray rendered differently than in iClone. While in iClone Cornea is used to shade eyes in most of the cases, in Iray, Cornea is just a clear glass and Eye material is used to actually render eyes. Black eyes can be caused by cranking Reflectivity in Iray Eye or Cornea materials (not iClone materials). Try to reset it to default: 75% of original size (was 671x19) - Click to enlarge

I tried it. But now the eyes just appear as totally black.

Your best bet is then to post a sample of the project and have someone look at it. Like girl alone in the scene.

4u2ges meant a sample of the actual project file. EDIT: My thinking is that it might have something to do with the girl being behind a transparent plane (the window). What does it look like if you just render the girl by herself?

Unfortunately I tried rendering her away from facing the window and it brought the exact same results as the picture above. And yes, I believe she has CC eyes as she was made in IClone 7 and is editable in CC.
And I don't know how to provide a sample of the actual project. What do you mean by that?
