Yes, I definitely choosed nativ render, playing with  GI , IBL and AO and the result is so good considering the time rendering. Since now, I didn't see a good, long animation with Iray, yes it's very good for very short animations and still images but not for movie

I TOTALLY AGREE. IRAY IS USULESS TO RENDER ANIMATIONS. EVEN IF YOU HAVE A POWEFULL MACHINE. FORGET IT.

I don't know how far you call "next level" of animation (I don't talk about a still images, I've seen tons of them, I'm talking of Iray animation who does not take 20 hours for 15s of video)
But with the advise of Steeve and some personal "adjustements", this 17 s of video was rendered in 3 hours. I think that I don't expect better with my humble machine but this level of quality is okay for what I do. Now, I'll be focusing in my storyboard and will continue to work with shaders and lighting as you told. And I hope a solution will be found for the flickering problem :P flickering appears with speed movements so for speeds movements I'll stil using iclone render

Guys, the difference between iclone renders and iray renders can be worlds apart, the problem i see is that you are just letting the auto convert do all the work and while it works great and it is way easier than the Indigo one, you still need to tweak shaders and lights to push to the next level.

I hope to be able to do the iray webinar by the end of this month , it will be in two parts. the first one will cover the UI and materials, and the second part will be lights, environment effects, and animation. And if time allow compositing with render passes.

Stay tuned.

Cheers,

We are all still searching and there's no doubt, Iray can push the level so high but the problem is : it push the time's level so high too :) that's why "amateurs" like Steeve and me exchange our experiences. Here, we are talking about time, So this webinar will be welcome especially if it reduces the rendering time.

Guys, Steeve is absolutely right, I rendered the same  scene with 40 iterations and the render time passed from 16 hours to 6 hours, and it changes all things, I'll post here one video with all animations, props, water and so , the quality is great (with 40 iterations)
