Hi,

can anybody explain how can I change a prop mesh so that my lipstick applicator looks authentic? Below there are 2 pics for comparison: the real lipstick applicator has a special top with a "cut-off" look, which is designed to make it easy to apply the lipstick and it is the important feature of  it.  The one I have created - on the other pic-does not. I have tried to combine two props to create a  somehow realistic-looking top, but it is not satisfactory. Maybe anybody can help with a good idea how I can edit mesh, or, even better: Does Reallusion have any specialized prop-creating software? I do not want to use any external prop creating software (like Blender etc) on this stage. Many thanks in advance for your suggestions.

There is perhaps a way to what you want using just iClone and Character Creator, but I don't know if the result would be 100% perfect for your needs.

In iClone select one of the default CC characters and then attach a Cylinder from the 3D Block Props folder to it - Cylinder_004 may be the best choice. I wouldn't worry too much about the size of the cylinder at the moment. Select the Character and then select "Edit in Character Creator" in the Modify Tab. In CC select the Cylinder and then "Edit Mesh". It "should" be possible to make adjustments to make it look like a Lipstick.

If, and when, you get the result that you want send the Character, with attached Cylinder, back to iClone. In iClone detach the cylinder from the Character and save it as a Prop that you can use to build your own Lipstick after scaling.

Brilliant thought Gerry! Never would have thought of that. And while I might have been able to achieve it a little faster in Lightwave or Blender it worked pretty good! Bravo! :D

There is a way, it is sadly in Blender, but it is incredibly simple and it takes less than a minute to do. It involves a Boolean modifer. When I have the time tonight, I can provide a very quick tutorial covering this or if you are able to, I can easily modify the mesh.

I am aware of that, but editing the mesh in the software would not achieve the best results in that image above. A Boolean cut with a slight bevel is the easiest and quickest option, plus it will be the best look by producing that sharp cut as seen with the image. Limited options though, it's why I jumped to the Boolean solution. It's a lot easier to have a mesh cut through another with a click of a button than mess with vertices :)

I tried this just for fun and it works amazingly.  I used the "Smooth" function to shape the cylinder.  I have no final product to show as it would take some effort to get it perfect.  I just wanted to verify it is doable.:D

I have seen some comments in the past relating to linking props to characters and working with them in CC but been too busy with other things to look into its possibilities. One thing I do wish is that iClone had a similar ability to adjust objects meshes like CC can with clothes and characters. Now I finally see its possible to send props to CC and edit their meshes there. Thank you for pointing this out wires. Much appreciated and I will definitely be looking into discovering the possibilities of this now.
I still wish we could do it to props in iClone too but it is what it is and I just use whatever I know is available to do what I need.
