@Justaviking, Colour, Paulg625, and Animagic- really terrific tutorage for more recent users, like myself, who need to refresh our memories again how to make things work. I don't know how many threads I've seen where you time and time again come to aid with knowledge. I like this post topic, really appreciate the help you gave here.

I prefer using the Switcher, because different cameras may have different settings, and if a specific camera has its own movements...Excellent points as always. My "keyframe/step" approach would not be very convenient for cameras with much movement, which is why I do still use the switcher sometimes. As for the cameras literally being different... I nearly always use the default lens. Becoming a better cinematographer is another thing on my long, long, long list of areas in which I'd like to grow and improve.

Note that Viking's method, though perfectly valid, is different from using the Switcher. I prefer using the Switcher, because different cameras may have different settings, and if a specific camera has its own movements AND also has to do the step setting, things get too confusing for my little brain...:unsure: There is, however, a peculiarity in IC7 that makes it harder to switch between cameras, as you have already noticed. It used to be that you could simply right-click on the track itself to create a switch point (as Colour describes for IC5). However, in IC7 the timeline cursor moves back to the closest earlier key frame. You can only create a new switch point by clicking slightly outside the actual track.In addition, the newly created switch-point key frame is not always showing, although it is created. The latter has been reported in Feedback Tracker (FT #3385), but the difficulty in creating the switch point should probably be added as inconvenience.

See iC5 Screenshot 1) 3 Cameras added to Project /.Switcher, by selecting Cameras in the Drop-down. 2) You can add Cameras in any order you want, by clicking on the end of the Timeline switch of the previous Camera.& selecting the Camera you want, from the Drop-down. 3) You can use the Switcher for Editing different Camera views, by clicking on any of the Camera switches 4) You can increase or reduce the time length of a Camera view, by selecting it's Camera switch & Dragging it. Many users probably don't use the Camera Switcher, saving each Camera view as a Video File & stitching them together in thejr Video Editing Program.

Thanks, I think I got it. I am able to use all my cameras now. I took cameras a bit for granted and got my butt kicked. However, throughout it all, the last eight hours, I learned a lot of stuff; trial and error has its merits. Sometimes in the struggle of finding your way out of the wilderness, you learn a lot about your surroundings. Now, it's time to get back to what I started this morning.

Hey justaviking, how are you tonight...
Yes, I did that, and it works fine for changing between two cameras, but when I try to add a third camera down the timeline, and follow the same process for setting it up, the preceding frames revert to the new camera view. Obviously, I am missing something. What am I doing wrong? Mark

1) Change your camera selection back from "Switch" to whatever camera you want to change, such as "Camera 3" or whatever. 2) Put the scrubber to the right time, and orient your view as-desired. That will make a new keyframe.
HOWEVER... The Camera 3 will now *gradually* and slowly move from Position 1 to Position 2.
SO... 3) Right-click on the new camera transform keyframe, an change the transition curve function to "STEP." Now the camera will stay in the original position until it reaches the new keyframe, and then suddenly/instantly jump to the new position when it reaches the new keyframe.
That is why I don't use the Switcher very much any more. I just use the Step function and re-position the camera for it's new location, and it works just like cutting (switching) between cameras. If I need to return to the original position, I simply copy that keyframe to my new "cut" location.

Hey, paulg625,
Thank you; your second post did the trick...
In your second post, you said to make sure my screen is set to switch; when I did that and used the timeline switcher, it did change the camera view from that point on. Great! But, if I try and make another camera change, I cannot place another key point further down the timeline to change to a third camera view. When I try, the timeline curser goes back to the first key frame where I first changed the camera view from preview to camera 2. How do I make another camera change? Mark
