Hi guys, I have a 3D bear (koala really) built in 3D MAX.
Iwant to setup a facial rig so IC7 will allow me to add (access) facial expression.
Has anyone get any tips/tutorials that wouldassist me?

For motion I’m going to follow the Adobe Mixamo workflow, but I’d love to get this little character to inherent IC7 facial expressions –any help would be appreciated.
CheersGarry

Iclone and 3DXchange do not offer rigging services, so you cannot create a body or a facial rig with this software. This would have to be done in your 3D editor (3D MAX from what I see). You should look for tutorials in 3D MAX and afterwards, you will import the rigged character into 3DXchange and you will map the bones.

Take a look at this tutorial for mapping the bones you have created inside 3D MAX

If you don't want to get involved with facial rigging, there is another way (more complex, i think). You can create morphs to resemble the movement of bones and muscles. Take a look at this tutorial, I am sure there are others but i couldn't find them.

@Gazzzzzzzz

I made a veeeeeery old tutorial to make blendshape for facial expressions. You could animate face whithout bones if you want.
Of course any modeler can be use for this .

Has anyone get any tips/tutorials that wouldassist me?

To rig and add morphs.

Here's a character with no face bones.
https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/70a6ec9c-15bb-4fea-954f-f292.jpg

The "Head" has:
2 neck bones
2 eye bones
1 head bone

Add the face bones... Link them to the head bone.

When the Jaw opens... you need the tongue and lower teeth to follow. the Jaw bone.
Link the "Lower Teeth and Tongue: to the "JAW bone.

Use "Vertex Weighting" and Skin the newly added bones:

Store "Poses"

and create morphs
"F" Phoneme for instance.

There are alot of steps involved and skinning takes the longest, but with practice.... you get faster.
