I have one suggestion - allow the flv export format to allow the addition of an alpha channel, and also to all resolutions.
Forgive me if this is already possible - I just don't see how.
At the moment I need to export as avi - to get the desired resolution, and then using a blue or green background, I import that into Premier or After effects and key out the background. This can be very difficult if the clone is wearing reflective safety equipment - as the key tends to pick up the bg colour at the edge of the glow. I then need to export the file to flv for use in Flash eLearning products.
It would make production so much quicker if I could export straight from iClone to any resolution, and included the alpha channel in the flv. That way it would be iClone direct to Flash - and I wouldn't have to manipulate the keying effect on a 2D movie.
Regards,
Mike
Hi Mike,
regarding the flash output resolution, you can make it any size you want, just type in the values into the numerical fields under custom size. I know if you just try to use the presets they give, they are small but you can make the movie any size you want.
As far as the alphas, I would recommend saving your movies as image sequences either as png or tga files, They come with the alphas. Then you can load the sequence in either premiere or after effects without doing any type of chromakey.
you can also try the iWidget format, its a form of flash that allows transparent background.
hope this helps,

Thanks for the information, I will try the png image sequence output to see if it does a better job of the alpha, but the issue is not "can it do it", it's "workflow".
In the next six months I hope to be outputting a huge amount of eLearning material (my company's order for iClone as a production tool is in the works). At the moment there is no straight/direct line between iClone and Flash that includes an alpha channel.
For me the saving on avoiding the trip to a video editing program with keying capability is incredibly important. The faster I can work the cheaper it is for the client and the more likely they are to use iClone avatars - instead of flat text & pictures.
Like I said, I'll give it a whirl, but the stopwatch will decide for me
