Yeah, I know ALL about retirement <g>.  Been there for almost 15 years now.

With one Kinect the limitations are you really can't turn around (or occlude your arms with your body).  It's fine if you are doing front facing work, as you might with the Faceware plugin, but for complicated moves you need the two Kinect version (which I have).  The nice thing is you can demo all the versions (I don't remember what the limitations are, most likely time, but they will give you enough to see if it works for you).

With the newer Kinects (the XBox One variety) you can work in a reasonable space -- the older models need more space than I can easily justify.  But what's really nice is the cleanup process is super good, requiring no further editing and looking as good as any mocap stuff I've seen.

It comes into XChange just fine -- you just have to define a rig for it, but that part is easy to do and you only have to do it once.  And then you bring it into iClone as you would any other motion.

It's worth at least a try.

Kelley, as you seem to be quite positive about iPi, and as I have a Kinect Xbox One that is currently out-of-work (iClone's plugin doesn't really cut it), I'm tempted to try it out.

I understand the process, but what's needed to make the Mocap suitable for iClone characters?

I bought the PN plugin when it was on sale, but I'm sort of hesitant about the suits as it would be quite a cash outlay and I definitely want the FaceWare plugin. It's not easy when you're retired...:crying:

The pro version is for multiple actors -- so if you add up the cost of multiple Perception suits you'd be there.

But you don't need that version -- mine works fine for far less.

Um, no, I paid for three years for $350 (and a PN won't last "for life", as we've seen).

iPi was a good solution till they started their subscription model. Now for the cost of a years sub you would be better off getting the perpetual PN.

hi there, i am using kinect mocap xbox in my iclone 7 and i am having an issue of stopping by itself after a minute of capture or recording. does anybody know how to fix this issue. i want it to go on recording until i stop it

Hi, could you check your project length? Because record function will stop at the last frame, you need to extend it manually in the project panel.

Some examples would help much, Kelley.

But stay safe, first of all. Mocap can wait. :P:D

Yeah, glad this thread was resurrected, as it reminds me I need to post some examples with the dual Kinects (the good news is I did find my cables so I have both of them available -- the bad news is that here in Florida we're going to be a bit busy for the next few days so capture won't be high on my priority.  As soon as Irma passes I *promise* I'll post some examples).
