Regarding fluid, I did get the ocean sim output to Blender and can animate that, so maybe a combo of things together will give a reasonable result. I don't know exactly what I even want to use it for, but anyhow, it's a puzzle.

I have never tried it but if like dynamic cloth it should and sounds brilliant if its doable

So, right now, I'm away from Blender, but I'm thinking of trying to shrink wrap a fluid sim and see what happens. Does the shrink wrap always keep vertex order? It seems a way of getting a fluid Sim simulated as a shape key morph would get me closer than anything at this point. Ideas?

basically take your base obj model, add a standard human rig / bone to it, do the basic rigging set up in 3D exchange, the morphing section becomes active.......then import the animation shapes as morphs. - obviously not practical for an extended sequence, but all the same possible.
There's always a way to do something in iclone, you just have to be creative about it, the fundamental tools of doing a whole lot of things is there.

yes the vertex order issue or I too would have suggested that I run into the same problem styling LAMH

I think Alembic needs to maintain vertex count too. painful as it is you can just import all the obj then toggle visibility along the timeline, opacity sliding probably would transition better.

Yeah, it is probably better to ask for Alembic support, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I also have seen obj sequence used for particle emissions, so maybe that would be possible. I wonder if they are working on updating the particle system, or if a third party will do that via the api.

It is currently not possible, but it would be great. DAZ Carrara has an object sequence importer. I've played with it, years ago. I had a group of columns being smashed in Houdini and could export the simulation as object sequence. EDIT: Alembic import would probably give you the same, easier.
