I've used it for a character (Pinhead, who else), who shrunk and was sucked into a magic oil lamp...:P

Mikesmith (8/17/2016) Hi Could anybody tell me if it is possible to convert an actor in iClone 6 to a prop. Many Thanks
Mike
IMO - No. Not in iC5, anyway.& previous Versions Why would you want to, anyway. Usually the other way round - Converting a Prop to a Non-Standard Human, using 3DXChange.. Hi Peter, in reality the answer is YES if we extend the question to 3DXChange. There it is possible to save an actor as a prop. Just need to export it as an iProp. I did it for some videos, where I need a huge crowd of actors and it would be ok to have them static. Regards Roberto

@ rampa, yes motions can go as well another use is using spring on certain bones to make a faux ragdoll you can see the centaur (prop) has motion as well as spring

If you have 3DX Pipeline, or CC Lite, you can export an actor as FBX, and re-import it as an FBX. If you do not do any characterization, then it is a prop. A DAZ character is also a prop before you characterize it.
I have not tried exporting motions with it and re-importing, but that would be useful.
A couple reasons one might want to do it are, being able to duplicate the "character" for crowds, and being able to animate stretch bones, which are currently only allowed for props. :)
