If you have 3DX Pipeline, or CC Lite, you can export an actor as FBX, and re-import it as an FBX. If you do not do any characterization, then it is a prop. A DAZ character is also a prop before you characterize it.
I have not tried exporting motions with it and re-importing, but that would be useful.
A couple reasons one might want to do it are, being able to duplicate the "character" for crowds, and being able to animate stretch bones, which are currently only allowed for props.
