Dear Developers,

As many of you may already know, in the iClone v6.5 update, one of the breakthrough features is the new Alembic export that can bring sophisticated vertex animation data to other 3D tools. However, for studios with serious production demands, the material assigning procedure is still a tedious task as one 3D character might take up to 20 steps to complete.

To skip this repetitive material assignment task, plug-in designers can utilize the Mesh to Material Mapping data to automate the material assignment process. This can make the Alembic export a simple one-click to other 3D tools, saving enormous time along the way..

We welcome any of you, who wish to design an Alembic plug-in for iClone, to let us know your requirements. If you are interested, please leave a comment and your contact info so that Reallusion can get back to you!

Now is your chance to jump in, and help out with the development progress!

The Alembic format does not include textures so they need to be reapplied.

You can export multiple objects by attaching them to a dummy object. Then select the dummy object to export.

Are there any efforts for an UE plug-in?
I mean, this would be prizeless.
Imagine how fast you could assemble complete scenes in UE4 with iClone content.
