Hi All,
Anyone know of an easy way to fade out a character's visibility?
The few times I had to do it, I've done so by keyframing all the character's materials. But it seems like there should be an easier way. Is there?

It least now all relevant materials are in one list. It's not great because there is a difference in the "fade out" quality of different materials.

At around 2:00 mins into my little Pinhead video I created the transparent ghost effect by rendering the scene 2 times. One with the ghost and one without. I took the two clips into my NLE, SONY Vegas, and put one clip over the other in the timeline and adjusted the opacity to create the ghost effect.

Thanks!

I've noticed the varying fadeout speeds of the various materials as well.

Thank you, Mark, That's exactly how I solved the problem the first time I'd run into it. I might go back to that method. It takes forever to select all the materials on a character.

As far as I know you can use the character's Opacity to make them fade out.
I used this technique to sort of fade one version of the character into another using the following method:
1. Insert character one 2. Insert character two in the same space as character one 3. On the time line, at frame 1, add a key frame for character one and set the Opacity to 100 4. On the time line, at frame 1, add a key frame for character two and set the Opacity to 0 5. On the time line, at frame 300 (for example), add a key frame for character one and set the Opacity to 0 6. On the time line, at frame 300 (for example), add a key frame for character two and set the Opacity to 100
In you case all you would do is the one character.
I don't recall, at the moment (without the project open) if I had to set the Opacity of each character's material (e.g. Face, Body, etc) individually or if I managed to apply the Opacity to the overall character.
