I'm feeling the same way. As well as upset that CrazyTalk, a fantastic product in it's own right, is now nothing more than a plugin for iClone. Of course I don't know this for sure, but I'm a long time RL customer, and it wouldn't be the first time RL upset me with their direction.
One of the great things about CrazyTalk was you could use literally any photograph. They didn;t have to be professional portraits with front and side shots. And the results were great. But now with the focus on creating 3d head, and having to have front and side images, the entertainment value of CT is going down. Which is a shame...CrazyTalk 8 isn't a plugin for iClone 6. The Standard version of CrazyTalk 8 works with 2D heads in much the same way as previous versions did. Pro add the ability to do both 2D and 3D heads but both versions have no link to iClone 6. Only the Pipeline version has an export feature to iClone 6. So if you just want a standalone CrazyTalk like in the past you can go for the Standard or Pro versions. And if you want to stay old school you can still work in 2D. ;)

I like many others got an email offer which sets the time window at three days for me to buy a bundle called iClone 6 Essential Power Collection for $199 to get CT8. But I have no means of knowing whether this offer is for CT8 Standard, CT8 Pro or CT8 Pipeline. As well, the Terms & Conditions stipulate that the offer does not include "Any software bundles withincluded content from the Reallusion’s Online Store". That seems to rule out the Essential Power Collection.
Hi Sean, If you are buying content then $199 will only get you the Pro version of CrazyTalk 8. However as the offer is for accumulated content, you can spend $199 now and can still spend another $50 before the offer runs out to get the Pipeline version of CrazyTalk 8 free.

wizaerd (11/6/2015) [We also lost the capability of making talking photographs. The 3D head is blad, and for hair we no doubt will have to use 3D content, purchaseable as content packs from RL no doubt. No, I'm not at all happy CrazyTalk was subverted for this usage into 3D...Not true. CrazyTalk 8 works in 2D (like before) or in the new 3D mode. You can still use a single front facing photograph and work in 2D if you wish.

Also, given that capability is still there, what new features are there for the 2D customer?

Peter, Just to be clear here -- if I buy, say, $250 in points in the Content Store (I think they are called points -- sorry, but I've only ever just bought content) do I still qualify for this free Pipeline even if I haven't "spent" those points at the time of the Pipeline release. My problem is I don't know there is currently that much content I want, but I do want the Pipeline version so I might as well spend the money somewhere (you can look at it two ways -- you either get a free Pipeline for buying content, or free content for buying Pipeline, and I prefer to look at it the latter).

You do not need to have spent the points before CT8 is released. You can hold on to them until there is something you need. :)

Great, I think that's exactly what I'll do today then. This looks to be a great Christmas present (well, to myself but...)

I do think it's rather amusing that when you go to check if you are qualified for this offer (if you have spent enough) that even if you have spent 0 (which I have, so far :>) it says "You are almost there" or some such. Hey, I'm almost there!
