Hey folks! All this is funny!

I think the tutorial is MORE than explicit.

I had gone through long exchange with Reallusion Dev. Team regarding hair offset when imported. The box weird method was RECOMMENDED by them as to reset the hair axis properly.

Of course you can make "hair" avoiding the box phase, but you will get unpredictable results when importing and applying the hair to G3 and G4 heads.

Best thing to do is follow the tutorial step-by-step EXACTLY.

There might be an English problem, with my poor pronunciation and worst with some lack of English understanding here and there.

What is basic about this is:
- We are talking about iClone 4 export plugin for 3DSMAX
- We are using Female07.max template
- We are working with either MAX 2008 up to 2011

¡Tutorial works and explains CLEARLY how to proceed!

I hope a little greater effor will overcome the language limitations.

Mike

Hi ,

For hair :

- select hair mesh and place it
- affect pivot only and align with head bone x/y/z in world , pivot to pivot
- create a material name Hair
- add a skin modifier to the hair mesh and select bone(s) ( head , head and neck , head /neck/collar , depends on the hair mesh .
- don't touch G3 template
- rendering scene
- save scene in .max
- export > plugin iclone 4 for iclone 4 , G3 character
- import in iclone save hair

hope this help

edit: hair mesh name , no importance

Hey

In the new plug-ins, there is no standard character, only G2 and G3 character.
I even loaded an older plugin Reallusin to export standard character.
But the result is the same.

Hello

English is not my native language and I write with a translation program.
I have tried the tutorial hair and it does not work for me.
1. I took a G3 template.
2. A sphere. I have called them hair
3. Then pivot and alignment for the head selected.
4. Because I wanted to understand the first time I've Prinzib
5. Skin -> Head and neck selected.
6. Exported as 3G character.

In the scene selection list 'is hair' listed.
In iClone is the Sphere (Hair) on avatars and moves with but it's not a hair and can be edited non.
If I go to hair is in the properties window select anything.
What am I doing wrong?

With friendly greetings

Hey Action 2009!

Folks are right!

You need to become an authorized developer to get your hands on G3 templates, which are MAX files containing the complete RL bone structure plus body skin.

For a start you can get into G2 characters without too much fuzz! You can download those templates no problem. If you want the G3's then as said, make some nice textures for instance use Jane Casual or any of the free clothing templates provided with your iClone and do some texturing. Be artistic and submit your textures.

It seems complicated and fuzzy, but it really isn't!

Once approved you can ask for the rest of the files. RL people are really good folks. They won't say... No!

Hello

I have a question.
What is the avatars/Character G3_Fermale 07?
I can find it nowhere at Reallusion.
Thank you for answers.

Thanks very much Mike. An interesting tutorial. I have to say it is interesting especially to me because I want to make some 17th and 18th century European wigs. They should have been easier than hair but they weren't.

Look forward to your commercializing your productions - I'll be happy to buy them to make sure you get a good start.
