Hello ,

Yes Bippy and GameToBipped don't work in max 2012 or more . Different max sdk and Visual Studio . Sorry for not mentionned that . I always use max 2011 .

You can use maxscript , max tools .... If your main goal is use biped animation and characterstudio tools , you can build a setup to constraining DazRig to biped and bake animation .
But it's required basic and advanced knowledge in 3d and in character setup . And many hours works , no EZ button here .

Hi ,

DAZ (fbx export) > 3dsmax (fbx import) + a maxscript (like GameToBiped or Bippy ) . No need 3dx5 here ;) . You can also write your own script :) .

Maybe that's exactly what I'm looking for, an automated Node transfer/assignment tool ...
(and it didn't really work for me in MAX, maybe I should try again ..)

As there seem to be tools. in 3DXchange, to transfer data from bones-systems to max biped, I thought ... well ... hoped that maybe an export-function was also available.

I mean ... the program goes THAT far, but not this last little 'leap' ....

And as my knowledge AND time is limited ...

My main objective would be to get a DAZ character into MAX.
But I don't want to work with Bones. I want a biped-based character.

As there are few tools to handle this job, I wondered if 3DXchange could do the job?

The tutorials I've seen so far do some vague(to me) biped to bones, back to biped trick.
But I don't see an actual new scene or biped-system created, just some transference of animation-data?

If you want to use anything as a Biped Rig defined by Max, you will have to define what bone or dummy used by the imported mesh is assigned to match the biped structure inside Max.

Regardless of the method used, whether it be (1) from DAZ directly -or- (2) Daz -> iClone -> Max, you still have to assign appropriate nodes so the software knows what bone (or dummy) is mapped to what.

Max has Node transfer/assignment tools, and there are tutorials out to show this being done.

This one (Shown below) can go either way as explained above. I don't understand why you would want to send it to a Biped rig, and no explanation is needed, you want it; simple enough.

If you want it you will need to research reassignment of nodes from one bone or dummy set to a biped rig inside MAX. No reassignment was done to the one shown below. It uses the original bone set assigned to animate inside Max.
