HI this kind of answers my post ..

https://forum.reallusion.com/Topic173415-14-1.aspx

THE KIND IOF THING I am looking gain knowledge on ..
How does one do it from start to finish. Yes I fully understand there's much to learn and so many opinions therein.
Sorry to the chap who has been ill and also falling by the wayside of youth and change. Hell I'm 50 yrs old just getting into it :-) I feel you brother. My other life in IT is a Project Management, good money, huge ulcers hahaha
Guys like you should teach guys like me .. and charge the simple fees. We exists to learn.

But yes I really want to utilise my creativity and not be a PURIST ANIMATOR.

Though I applaud the moves RL have made to open the gates to people who wish to develop content for Iclone but can not afford autodesk programs, I would hate to see it at the cost of the Max developers.

heheh, actually I did, that's how this thread got thrown off, I posted a demo of an 'experiment' I made on my blog thread that was obviously wrong - I was experimenting- but I was sharing the adventure of it .....swoop posted it here and turned it into a flame war. He was even hating on 3D coat!!!!! And no, I'm not going to drop it in hopes to make him think 2wice before trying to start kittens with me again!! :pinch: I will harp on it till he plays nice for good!!

I love 3D coat, awesome software - the auto retopo feature is great but it doesn't cover the fingers effectively and kills a ton of detail - so you need to put time into it to preserve the nuances in your model......I understand the process though and appreciate how time consuming it is. I usually look for short cuts - but hard core modelers are seriously opposed to short cuts lol . :D

PSD, man I want to go to this party!!!!
Look you don´t need spend hours on this... Try new autopo in 3DCoat.Turn off local simmetry and Just hit the default poly target and simmetry in that window. You´ll see a better edges loops for your model ! and still many polys!

hehe, actually, no ...I'm very right !! let me explain, I respect everyones techniques and skill very much and my goal is to make music - not spend hours making the perfect model, and months making the perfect movie to get 1,000 hits on youtube when my goal is to make music.

Imposing a lesson on how to fix transmissions on me when all I want is an oil change is inappropriate. I haven't the budget to hire other people to give my ideas to, so I have to learn them myself, ....it just so happens I have the 'ability' to understand the technicalities of animating and modeling ....so because of that I can dabble in it ....

but to call me stupid because I want to be a driver and not a mechanic is not appropriate, so we duked it out lol :D

I love all you guys very much and have tons of respects for everyones skills - but I want to promote music - not spend days and months making content to promote music. It is my belief that the idea is more important than the technique ...

Ok...so i don't film the feet ...lol :D it's all good, and this debate was more to have fun with friends than really put anyone down - but on the same hand ....attacking me ...only makes me play harder...so be nice!! :p

also, Iclone is a toy for us newbies - the max users are pros, and really have no business criticizing people using off broadway techniques :p

You guys are just upset because I look mad sexy without 3DS Max and unusual meshes. whoops.

I found this thread now and I have to say that made me laugh a lot...kkkk
Hours in entertainment!
Swoop talking in parabolas kkk and PSD , man you need to listen this guys ... You are wrong mmy friend... If you study a bit you will understand that you are modeling wrong and for your model work, ANIMATED, you need less polys! You showed your character in IClone editor, but if you will rig them(will be hard too , very high poly) you will see that your animation work will be a nigthmare... And this not good to show like a 3dcoat model, even autopo was made wrong... I can show you a better workflow if you need.

Well, and about this thread, ... 3Dxchange, will have rigging and bones in next version already? I think this is the most important feature that link IClone to Max yet.Of course IClone was made on top of Autodesk Max technology... I saw this since I bought IClone in version 2. I decided buy IClone just to escape from render times in top 3D softwares.Of course realtime tecnology is the future for me , and I start to incorporate this to my workflow for some time now.
So (PSD) IClone is a program to make films, but, you need to incorporate real time techiniques( low poly modeling, Uvs, shaders etc) in your work.
Of course Max is a much more complete software, but with the work that RL is doing, you will don't need it for development soon.At least for the kind of production IClone bring to us.
So in my point of view , RL will bring the kind of tools you need to development to this marketplace... You will have a modeling tool like Max have? I don't believe this, but you will have bones, rigging, vertex naming etc, and you can use any no expensive tools (modeling)to do this focus in creativity and originality, and not just customization.(I really don't know why modeling softwares like ZBrush and 3D Coat don't have bones and rigging tools... For me this kind of feature make sense to be incorporated in a modeling tool , and not in a animation tool, at least, simple bones and not constrains)
So this will be a real development tool for all and not just for Max users... So if you are a MAX developer, you will continue to be a developer...what's the problem? For the time being RL must to update IClone/Max plugin, of course!

animagic (10/11/2013)

I also still don't understand why older versions of plugins don't work in newer versions of Max, unless of course the internals are changing all the time.

Hi Animagic ,

Plugin need to be recompile with the SDK version of max (ex : Max SDK 2012 for max 2012 and Visual studio 2008 , oh! the same VS version as previous RL plugin :P . Need VS 2010 for max 2013 ....) .

I don't know why RL Team does not do it ???? perhaps some hardwork to recompile but where ...

I just wanna jump in here real quick and apologize to Apparition.

Mr. Apparition, good to see you back and I am sorry for swaying away from your original topic post here. Sorry if I or others have ruin this topic for you. When I get into a debate of some sort I tend to forgot about the original topic.

To Reallusion, sorry as-well and I am sure you hear our concerns about this. And to Peter, thanks for the reply. At least I know RL is aware of this so please don't bring me(and a few other developers) down. We need 3ds max plugin! :) Thank you for your time.

3dsMax 2014.................$3,675.00

This gives you version 2014 and no access to previous versions.

You can also buy a subscription with the purchase for...............$4,300.00 (total for both).

This gives you access to previous versions,

to compensate this,:Whistling:
You have to make a lot of money on the marketplace with interchangeable body parts :D

I think , xchange in the future can this features too, and and you can save this

3DS Max and Maya might actually be a cool software - but it was soul-d out to the man and the system ...called autodesk that wanted to enslave the artistic population and turn them into technical zombies and kill all their creativity so people with zero talent could become rich off of them. I will not name names.

There is a software in music that does the same thing, they would do major upgrades to the system and cause many expensive plug ins to become non-functional forcing the users to not only upgrade the base software but to pay pricey upgrades as well for the plug ins they already purchased to work. I'll never forget a friend putting down 20k to get a used system that got outdated like 1 or 2 years later. - he really couldn't afford it, but needed it to work.

I'm a geek, it's natural for me to enjoy these complex softwares - but I resist!! Blender is part of the resistance!! I support small teams or individuals that actually care about their work...not big corporations that make expensive slave tools for other corporations to exploit artists with!
