wendyluvscatz (11/6/2013) iC 3DX5P exports use the facial morphs as blendshapes Carrara cannot read and certainly studio cannotI can import Genesis' facial animation back in Daz Studio, but that's all I can import. I can even transfer it to an aniblock, but I can't apply the aniblock to another Daz figure. And all body animation is lost. It is very frustrating that Daz FBX import is all buggered up 'cause, IMO, it wouldn't take that much to fix it.

iC 3DX5P exports use the facial morphs as blendshapes Carrara cannot read and certainly studio cannot the BVH does not export spring bone animation so lip-syncing is limited to the program it is done in.
I can get in spring animation on FBX imports in Carrara though albeit silent characters, boned characters like iClone iAvatars work fine. I have posted in a separate thread how unfortunate the BVH does not export it as otherwise I could use it with dynamic cloth in Poser or DS Optitex cloth.

I thought just for fun to view my FBX with facial animation in FBX Viewer (part of Autodesk's FBX Converter), and this is the result:
The speech somehow modulates the mesh of the poor girl!

vidi (11/6/2013) No, DAZ must only improve her fbx importer . The same thing is with Carrara. You can export a converted xchange Genesis Figure (or another rig figures) in all another 3D Programms , that means the fbx import plugin in DAZ studio is trash.Possibly true. Sounds plausible.

Facial Morph is so much part integral to the genesis Character, I am not sure if we can really export that back to DAZ because DAZ does not recognise FBX import of genesis from 3DX as a Genesis Character in the current situation.
For that 3DX needs to export it as a Genesis character like it recognises during import from DAZ.

I was able to export the same character from 3DXchange into Carrara with character and animation in tact, including the lipsynching, all of which was added iClone. How did you do that? Howeever much I tried, I haven't been able to export any FBX facial animation (lipsynching) from iClone to Carrara, only the body animation. What is your secret? Thanks. Well, uh... Do I feel silly... We PM-ed about this, but I feel I have to correct my previous statement publically. I was not able to actually get facial animation into Carrara with Genesis characters, so I'm not sure what made me say that earlier... EDIT: Thinking about this some more I now seem to recall that I realized that it probably didn't work and that I most likely would need to be the Mimic plugin (which does lip-synching). Sorry for the confusion. I still would like to know why it doesn't work, but I'm not an Carrara expert. That would be Wendy...:)

Peter, thanks for addressing. I guess I was hoping for a DAZ Studio FBX setting in 3DXchange to be available upon export, because I do know a FBX exported from DAZ and be reimported into DAZ no problem, but not once that FBX has been filtered through 3DXchange. While I have you, any chance you can address this issue?

Obviously, we're all just speculating here but I was hoping Peter (RL) or someone could confirm.Unfortunately there is no one standard for FBX Export/Import and Daz's FBX import is not as versatile as other 3D software such as Max and Maya. As Vidi has already explained this is why you are encountering problems. We are hoping that Daz will improve FBX import in a future update but for now there are still unresolved issues.
